Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1993 Ford F150 Lightning, which I have owned since new. I bought the truck while I was an engineer at the Ford Motor Company. Within 1000 miles of new, I changed the axle ratio to 3.31 and recalibrated the powertrain for better performance. This is not an aftermarket system, but done with factory tools on factory equipment, by an expert. The engine and transmission are mechanically stock. The truck has a custom painted tool box in the bed, a bedliner, and a custom toneau cover. The system is water tight. I have installed a 30 watt per channel mp3 Alpine stereo with 4, 6"x9" speakers. Oil changes every 3500 miles with Mobil 1 synthetic. This is the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. . The reason for my sale is that I need diesel power to tow my new toy. I can only hope the new truck is as good a truck as the Lightning. I am very meticulous, and an excellent mechanic and degreed mechanical engineer with a life long career in engine design and power development. Stock 17" wheels have been powder coated and have 8 coats of clear coat over the metal flake base color (matched the factory color) Tires have 75% tread and have a semi aggressive pattern. Custom paint, with a black front so it's not so easy to pick out in a group of high speed vehicles approaching. Truck has a Reese 2" receiver, and I use this truck to tow my 15' Hydrostream Viper boat (1700 pounds with trailer). Mileage is 115k. Most of the miles are on the highway because this truck was only for moving my toys (motorcycle and boat). A Lightning has many options over the standard 150 XLT, such as: -Seats with adjustable bolsters and lumbar, other special interior changes. -Full gauge implement. -Lowered suspension with Bilstein shocks. -True dual high flow exhaust system. -Reinforced 8.8" differential and aluminum driveshaft. -e4od automatic transmission with a 5.8 liter v8. -Engine has stainless steel tubular headers, SVO intake manifold system, gt40 heads. -17" wheels. I am including the original ECU and a storage cover. The dashboard has a small spider looking blemish from when my radar detector fell off the windshield. The blemish is located directly below the right edge of the rear view mirror. It can be seen in the pictures. If you win the auction, a deposit of $500 must be made within 48 hours and arrangements to pick up the truck must be made in 4 days and the truck must be picked up or shipped by your arrangement within 8 days. I have the truck for sale locally and reserve the right to sell it prior to the end of auction. Each spring is run to an independent valve located behind the front gas door. I used them for leveling the truck out when carrying items like a motorcycle. On Aug-18-10 at 05:06:27 PDT, seller added the following information:The truck is not perfect, as there are some small stone chips on the front (can see in photos). When the black was applied, I base coated the nose with 10 coats of thinned gravel guard to resist chips and bugs. This is as good as it gets, and it still looks great. The hood has a small area where the red paint came off, which can be seen in the picture from above. It is in the center near the rear most portion of the hood. The rear bumper has some rust on the thin metal tip cover behind the license plate. It is the only grade of fuel I use.
