Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a transition year 1958 Alfa Romeo Sprint. This car has recently undergone a cosmetic restoration. The paint job is an 8 out of 10 and all of the body panels are straight and the gaps are good. Most of the trim has been removed and the front air intakes have been modified to resemble an earlier Sprint style and the front and rear bumpers have been shaved and mounting holes filled. Both front and rear rechromed bumpers and all stainless trim will be included with sale. The original door handles have been replaced with GTA loops. Basically this car is cosmetically great looking and is a great candidate for a vintage racer or sported up Alfa hot rod. The interior has been completely redone in high quality tweed a la the original style. The seats are recovered later Alfa seats possibly out of a Duetto. They're bigger and comfortable. The door panels are also new and in the original style. The headliner is also new and well installed. All the windows are original and operate as they should. Gauges and lights work. The motor is the original 1300cc single Solex carb as delivered. It's not a powerful unit but if one's desire is to return the car to original this the motor along with the 4sp tranny. The motor is strong with a compression test done 8/9/10 showing, 151, 150, 153, 150 respectively. The original air cleaner and other motor accessories are in tact and in good condition. I drove this car from LA to San Francisco a few months ago and had while I didn't win any drag races, I did make it without incident. The car runs cool and pulls well. Clutch doesn't slip and tranny shifts well through the gears. The wheels are new 14'' Panasports on new Pirelli P6's. The spare tire is on a stock steal wheel. The car is registered and has a clean California title in my name. IMPORTANT to note: Some of you might think that some of the body modifications mentioned above are not ideal but again it makes for a unique Sprint, albeit not totally original. The floor pan had rust and has been repaired with patches. The work is well done but the underside of this Sprint is nowhere near as clean as the body and interior. Seems like it's all original, meaning springs, control arms, shocks, etc. The jacking points are all intact but surface rust does exist. The brakes on this car are original drums. They stop the car but are not confidence inspiring. It's difficult to find brakes shops that can 'turn' drum brakes these days so a new owner might want to covert the car to discs in front. The ignition switch sticks sometimes and has to be turned back a notch to keep the starter motor from turning continuously. This doesn't happen often but often enough to be annoying. GENERAL Info: I bought this car earlier this year from an Alfa collector in LA. My intention was to put a 2 litre in it and upgrading the suspension and brakes. I have too many projects and so have decided to sell. I am in Monterey Ca. this weekend at the vintage races (look for the Black #18 Spider Veloce, come say hi ) and the car will be at Concourso Italiano near the eBay Motors booth on Friday and at the Alfa Corral at Laguna Seca the rest of the weekend. No warranties, expressed or implied apply to this sale. A $1000 deposit due 24 hours after auction and full payment within 7 days. Can be delivered in California for an additional fee.
