Latest XJ220 sells at Quail lot #613 for $172,000 August 16th... Prices continue to climb http://www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh/WService=wslive_pub/pubweb/publicSite.r?sContinent=USA&screen=lotdetailsNoFlash&iSaleItemNo=4695210&iSaleNo=18267&iSaleSectionNo=4 Rare US legal Jaguar XJ220 in Spa Silver with two sets of rims and new Michelin Pilot Sports. All tools, books and receipts. For sale by a private collector and owned since 2004. Email me for detailed specs. Car has been inspected by Jaguar specialists and rated near excellent origional condition. Everything works! Has been well maintained by a private mechanic. No paint work or accidents and not a race car. Only 8500 Kilometers since new. Shown regularly at local Concours events. Last NON US Legal car sold at auction two months ago for $148,000 same color and similar mileage. This car is US legal, has two sets of rims, records and is well cared for. Auction houses have assigned value of $170-195k for this one. Save the buyers 10% and buy it on ebay before it goes to auction. Car is located in California and will be sold with bill of sale and show and display title. Vin#SAJJEAEX8AX220705 finished Oct 28th 1993. *Many have asked about the service around these cars. First they are inline with a Ferrari, as they require engine out service which due to body work and the way the engine is mounted costs $15-20k. The fuel cell is suggested to be replaced every ten years and this one was last done in the end of 2002. New fuel cell via England is 8k or via San Jose race cell engineers 5k. You cannot install fuel cell unless engine is out. Since I have owned the car I have had cam cover gaskets go out and turbo hoses and thats it. I have replaced brake pads twice with different compounds to try and get some brakes around town. The BBS rims are much better than the stock rims as it allows the brakes to actually vent. I have stock rims and they are mint. Show and Display allows you to drive 2000 miles per year without hassle. You can register the car in your state but of course will be subject to sales tax and other reg fees. This car has cat converters for US. Most XJ220's I have seen have many non working parts like lights, radios and electrical. This car has 100% operational everything including cd, radio antenna and AC. I live within 5 miles of three other XJ220's and we all have them serviced by the same mechanic who left Ferrari SF to run his own shop. He can do the service anytime but parts take awhile to order. I have done a hand full of track days with her and its a very exciting car to run at speed. She has not been sitting around and as the report shows is not pouring oil out of all the gaskets like the usual low mileage stored cars. Please read this to answer most questions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_XJ220 Website to learn about XJ220's: http://www.xj220data.com/ Pre purchase inspection report via guys from England a few weeks back who specialize in 220's: Please find below a copy of my e-mail report having inspected and test driven your XJ220 a few weeks ago: ---------------------- Well presented car with all chassis number stampings and stickers in correct original places. Chassis number SAJJEAEX8AX220705 stamped into top of rear passenger side engine bay metal frame. XJ220 interior step-plates denoting car 272 Exterior Above average presentation with likely original paintwork all round, thus original Spa Silver. Glasswork all excellent. Paintwork and bodywork to standard Jaguar finish and as they came from the factory, which was never particularly sharp. One very small scratch on passenger side rear fender. One small dent on lower driver’s side sill from jacking. Front showing stone chip damage to paintwork across nose, very usual. Rear venturi scuffed underneath in places, again, all very usual. All panelwork as per factory spec. Upgraded BBS wheels fitted front and rear. Original wheels come with the car, as do various spares, not inspected. Engine bay Could probably benefit from a thorough detailing but overall standard was clean and dry. Missing cam cover spark lead covers, should be easily replaceable ex UK. Interior Well above average and no nasty tears or scuffs. Standard leather trim and carpeting. Stereo radio and electric antenna work (99% of them don’t) All lights and auxiliary switchgear working. All dials and gauges working. Pop-up headlamps working. Trunk has original First Aid kit unused in plastic wrapper, wheel nut lug and fuse holder. Road test All correct and working with no nasty rattles or noises. Car was driven up to temp. Gear selection absolutely as per usual, so fractionally difficult to engage smoothly which is common to all of the 220s. Recommendations Fuel bag tanks need replacing with new. Absolutely essential to use Premier tanks. Likely cost in region of $8000 plus labour to fit. Advise having front brake discs skimmed as beginning to pick-up on more prolonged braking. NB: these cars have brakes that are not user friendly for in-town short journeys, as they just do not come up to temp on short runs. Advise front bushes need replacing soon. Check when cam belts were last replaced. Engine felt strong with good torque and power. Gearbox equally felt strong and tight. Paperwork Full disclosure from Mr. Sweeney who showed his bill of sale from previous owner to him. All books and manuals complete, altho handbook not factory-stamped by Jaguar. Car currently on Show & Display status in California in Mr. Sweeney’s name. Mr. Sweeney runs it on his CA dealer plates. Numerous extra keys for the car, but missing the original (u/s) remotes. --------------------- Morris & Welford, LLC 2900 Bristol Street, Suite C-205 Costa Mesa, CA 92626 www.morrisandwelford.com International Historic Car Brokers California USA ~ Connecticut USA ~ Hampshire UK
