1986 Porsche 944 Red with Black Interior, Automatic, A/C, PS, PB, Cruise, Rear Defog, Rear Wiper, Power Seat, Optional Leather Sport Seats, Sunroof, Phone Dial Wheels, AM-FM CD Player. PCA member owned. Overall a clean car, that has always been adult owned. Nothing broken or abused. I am the third owner. Car has been well maintained. Complete history all major receipts since new including the dealer invoice. Runs well, drive fine, shift fine, brakes are good, and the tires are NEW. It passes the strict Massachusetts state inspection, emissions and all with no difficulty. I have owned the car since March 2005. The car lacks many of the common 944 problems, the hatch is in good shape and not separating from the frame, the battery box is in good shape, the padded dash has no cracks. I store the car outside, when I am not driving it, under a car cover and it has protected the car nicely. I do drive it year round but only when there is no salt or ice/snow on the roads. I try to drive the car once per week in good weather. I am really not excited about selling the car but I have 6 cars to maintain so I have decided it is too much for me to do. EXTERIOR: Paint has nicks and scratches but still waxes up pretty nice. Car has NO rust. There is a small dent on the top of the left front fender (the previous owner dropped something on it in the garage). The car is presentable; it turns heads and prompts conversation wherever I go. I’d honestly rate the outside a 6 out of 10. INTERIOR: The interior is nearly perfect, DASH HAS NO CRACKS!, Driver’s side seat has wear creases in the leather and a very tiny hole in the corner (not really noticeable). It’s one of the nicest 944 interiors I have seen. I’d rate the interior a 9 out 10. THE GOOD: Only 7K miles on NEW timing belt, balance belt, rollers, and NEW water pump and complete reseal of the front of the engine including oil cooler. All professionally done by 944 specialists. (Retensioned after 2K mile break-in per factory recommendations) INSTALLED IN THE PAST YEAR: New Yokohamas all around (< 1k miles) New rear shocks New Front Struts New Stabilizer Bar Bushings Rebuilt front calipers with new brake pads Tuned (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter) New Ignition Coil New Windshield New hood struts IN ADDITION TO THE BELTS, THE FOLLOWING HAS BEEN INSTALLED SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT New Fuel Filter New Fog Lights New Flasher Relay New Rear Speakers New AM/FM CD Player New Ball Joints New Fuel Pressure Regulator and Dampener New DME Relay New Crank/Spark Sensors Lower control arms with rebuilt ball joints New Battery New Speedometer drive/sensor Rebuilt Alternator Many other little things (switches, etc.) The previous owner also replaced a lot of major parts just before I purchased it including: Rebuilt Starter Front and Rear drive shaft vibration dampeners New radiator THE BAD (nothing really bad): The A/C system works but has a leak Needs rear control arm bushings (they clunk sometimes The rear shade is broken but I understand it can be repaired easily; I’ve never needed it. The front spoiler has a crack in each corner (not bad) and is slightly faded ***OK, IT'S AN AUTOMATIC, WHICH TURNS MOST PEOPLE OFF. BUT DO KEEP IN MIND IT IS POSSIBLE TO SWITCH THIS CAR TO A 5-SPEED, THE CAR IS NICE AND IT IS CHEAP ENOUGH TO MAKE IT WORTH CONSIDERING. IN REALITY THE JOB IS ONLY SLIGHTLY MORE WORK THAN DOING A TYPICAL 944 CLUTCH JOB (IN ADDITION AXLES NEED TO BE CHANGED AND THE PEDALS SWAPPED) DONOR CARS WITH BLOWN ENGINES ARE QUITE CHEAP TOO*** *** VERY REASONABLE RESERVE, A LOT LESS THAN THE BUY IT NOW - MY SON IS OFF TO COLLEGE AND NOW I HAVE 6 CARS AND ONLY TWO DRIVERS, SO SOMETHNG HAS TO GO**** Included with the car are the original owners manual and the original bag for the sunroof. NOW, this is not a 10K Porsche 944, I have set a very reasonable reserve that I believe is well below its value, it is a nice clean used car, but it is 24 years old and things can go wrong, and while I know of no major problems with the car, the car is being sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS. NO TRADES. NO SCAMS. NO I WILL NOT SHIP IT. The buyer is responsible for all taxes and registration costs.
