Vehicle Detail

This bike is in good condition. In the last couple of years I had a new rear tire installed. Stater was getting weak, had new stator and quality battery installed. Carbs cleaned and dialed in. Had other things inspected or replaced but can not remember what they were. One thing I do remember is the speedometer was replaced but it was not new. The one I replaced was reading slower than it should and the speedometer hand would bounce. The replacement seems to work good but the mileage is off. It reads a little over 17,000 but reads 5400 miles too much. The bike will start at the touch of the button unless it has been sitting for a couple of months. Runs smooth and sounds good, no strange noises. Almost forgot, all brake pads and front master cylinder replaced, as you can see I had a chrome cylinder put on, thought it looked better. Some things probably did not have to be replaced but the last thing I want is have the bike konk out on the road. New starter and starter clutch also. You may find it is common on these bikes for the starter not to catch as it should. I am told by the shop that the starter clutch wears and causes the problem. Plus, having a good strong battery is important. I have taken care of the bike and the fellow before me took good care of it also. He was even older than me and I am 74. Yes, that is the reason I'm selling it, the years are catching up. Keep forgetting things. Most of you know this has a dual range transmission, 5 gears low range for around town and 5 high range for highway cruising, and plenty of power. Now days gas mileage is a big concern. Sorry, this bike does sparkle in that department. Here is what I seem to get : Town is somewhere in the 40's. Depends on how much stop and go traffic. Highway is 50-55 mpg. today I took a ride in the Serria mountians and got just a little over 50 mpg. I have to say this : I am not a hard rider in town or on the highway. Highway speeds are mostly 60-65 mph. If you ride harder like I used to years ago, I'm sure the gas mileage will be lower. You may notice, the exhaust is 2 into one. I have the stock pipes and as I remember they are in good shape. I probably missed something but this is all I can think of for now.
