emodude02 Store 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle/Malibu "Heavy Chevy" 327 thm350 Hello, I have up for sale a 1971 Chevy Chevelle / Malibu. I bought this with intentions of fixing it up, but with my new job I need to consolidate my cars down and get something thats fuel-efficient. It does run and drive, so you could either make a cheap cruiser out of it or go all-out and restore it. This car belonged to an old neighbor of mine. He last drove it in 1997 (and it has the inspection sticker to prove it). I believe he hit a deer with it and thats what broke the front grille and dented the hood slightly. Hed start it up every once in a while, but it hasnt been on the road for about 13 years so it definitely needs work. I did drive it from his house to mine (a whopping 1.5 miles), but you cant hop in this and go anywhere. He swapped in a 327 and a turbo 350 trans way back in the day. Its been sitting outside for quite a few years, so its got rust/rot in all the typical places. The worst of it is probably the drivers side floor area. The trunk is pretty rusty but feels relatively solid. The fenders all the way around have rust or rot. Passenger side mirror is slightly pushed in and it buckled the door a little bit too. It needs a new front grille. Hood has a small crease on the front-center. It has two rust spots on the hood as well. Has a few scratches along the passenger side. The top of the fenders in the back right above the tail lights are rusty. Rear window chrome surround isnt sitting flush. The paint on the roof didnt hold up well. The interior is shot. Front seat needs to be recovered. The carpet is crap as well. Rear seat is split, dashboard is cracked. I poked at the passenger side floor and it seemed solid, but I didnt rip up the carpet to look. Shift indicator is broken, but the shifter clicks three times past neutral so its definitely a 3 speed auto. Headliner is hanging down. Drivers side door doesnt have the armrest, but it might be in the trunk. Original steering wheel is in the trunk. Engine starts up and runs with the help of a little starting fluid. The choke cable is broken, so theres a screwdriver holding the choke open. Engine smokes a little bit, not sure if its just from sitting or what. I changed the oil before heading to my house, and it doesnt smell like gas so the rings should be good. It has a holley carb and an accel distributor. One side of the exhaust is missing the muffler so its loud, but its got a bit of a cam in it so it sounds pretty damn sexy. I did leave this idling one day and it ended up running down the battery so it wouldnt start up again. Im not sure if its the voltage regulator or the alternator. Then again, I had it running for a bit the other day and it was charging up the battery so I dont know if that was a one-time thing. There is no battery in it, but we can borrow the battery out of my jeep to let you see it run, or to drive it up on your trailer. If I was going to keep it, id get the complete interior kit and a new floor panel, redo the brakes, change all the fluids, fix the exhaust and just enjoy it as is until I got the money/time to start working on the body. The hood looked amazing once we washed/waxed it, but it did get a bit dusty from sitting outside. Id definitely recommend taking a look at this car if youre interested. Ive tried to be as thorough as possible, but Im in no way a chevelle expert and theres always the chance I missed something. If you cant make it out here, then by all means get in touch with me and Ill find out whatever I can. I can always take more pictures if youd like. The title is good and clear. A $200 deposit must be made via paypal within 48 hours of the auctions end. The rest of the money is due upon pickup via cash. The entire car could be paid via paypal, but youd have to cover the paypal fees. Pickup must be made within 7 days of the auctions end, unless you contact me first. I reserve the right to end this auction early (this is sitting in my front lawn after all) and cancel bids from anyone. Please do not bid if you have negative feedback or a score less than 10. If you do, I will cancel your bid and add you to my block list. I dont mean to be difficult, but I dont like being burned. One of my buddies bought this from my neighbor, and got it insured and registered because he was going to try to get AAA to tow it (in retrospect it probably would have been cheaper to just pay to get it towed). He never worked out the whole towing thing and I just ended up giving him the money and picking up the car from my neighbor. I have to imagine that my buddy just went to DMV and made up an odometer reading on the spot. I don't know what the original mileage is, but I'd hazard a guess that it's probably rolled over once. Since it's only a 6 digit odo I don't really know. Personally, It doesn't bother me because it's not a number-matching show car, but I just wanted to throw it out there. If you want to cancel your bid let me know and I'll do it for you. Thanks, RichOn Jul-31-10 at 06:28:42 PDT, seller added the following information:Hello Again, I had a chevelle enthusiast message me and send me a link and the vin number doesn't match up as a true heavy chevy. ALso he brought it to my attention that I accidentally added another three to the vin number. It's the correct vin, but somehow I added a three to the beginning when I typed it in. Also I have to apologize for not canceling the zero feedback bidders soon enough, but I'll be keeping a close eye on the auction this weekend. As of this moment everyone who bid either has over 10 feedback or has contacted me. I'm just trying to keep my sanity and I do not want to get the run-around or have to end up listing items twice.
