Vehicle Detail
Introduction: Up for auction is the epitome of class, style, elegance, preservation, and driving enjoyment. This 1937 Cadillac Series 7539 Town Sedan has an outstanding pedigree and is thoroughly documented. In 2001 she was the Cadillac LaSalle Club Senior Winner and in 2008 participated in the CCCA Tour of Europe. She has has traveled down the German Autobahn, scaled the Alps, and toured France and Italy with confidence, poise, and strength, all without a single breakdown! Walk with me as we take a closer look at this fun, reliable, rare, historic, Fleetwood bodied automobile. Exterior: The first characteristic that grabs a hold of your senses as you approach this Cadillac is the razor straight body and the deep, rich, black finish the pours over every contour. It literally looks like you are gazing into a mirror when you stare into body panels of this car. The paint reflects anything set in front of it sharply and crisply and has no orange peal, just a rich dark finish. The paint however does have a few shortcomings. Since this car has been toured extensively she does show some signs of use. As stated above the paint and body are absolutely beautiful, but when you get closer than five feet, you will notice some chips and some paint spidering. These flaws are not detectable from five feet or greater away. There is no rust what so ever an any of the vintage steel panels. The door gaps and body lines are aligned with absolute precision. All of the chrome, including bumpers, grill, handles, and other accents glow with a mirror quality finish. The glass in the car is crystal clear with no chips, nicks, discoloration, or cracks. \ Interior: Open any of the doors and step into luxurious accommodations reserved for the privileged of the era. The front and rear seats wear their factory appointed coverings in excellent condition. The seats, door panels, carpet, and headliner are in excellent condition with no rips, tears, or stains. The woodwork looks like something you would find on a piece of fine furniture. The chrome and brightwork inside the car is also in exceptional shape. The only issue with the interior is the radio needs repaired. As you can see in the backseat is a full-color binder of images documenting the Tour of Europe trip this car made. Mechanical: As stated in the introduction this car is an extremely reliable, fun car to drive. She underwent, a year long, mechanical preparation for the Tour of Europe and has since been meticulously maintained. The original 346ci Flathead V-8 engine comes to life with the bump of the key and revs seamlessly without hesitation or hiccup. Period correct steel belted radials were installed to give the car drivability while maintaining the period correct appearance. A New clutch was installed, new brakes, new distributor, and the carburetor was rebuilt all as part of its European preparation. The undercarriage is exceptionally clean and very very solid. There is no rust, rot, or damage of any kind. The rear end differential still has the "Use Cadillac Approved Lubricant" disclaimer tag on it. This is truly a museum quality piece of automotive history. To this day the car is still a jump in and drive anywhere machine that is 100% FUN to drive and enjoy.
