Vehicle Detail
It's Back...brake problem fixed, was front hose as suspected. 109590 miles on odometer but it has a Rebuilt engine & transmission in 1998, limited miles on it... estimated around 25-30k miles on them. Various other items obviously repaired since then as well. It pulls incredibly well. I've driven it loaded full of car parts and have driven it towing cars on trailer...and it is a great, easy puller. Gets surprisingly decent gas mileage considering what it can pull, as long as you keep it under around 63mph. Above that, pulling a load, and the rearend gearing causes the 4bbl to start opening. I assume its around a 3.55 rear gear, maybe higher, that's just a guess. Van has not been driven much in the last 10 months. This was my father's parts hauler, he passed away 10 months ago. Selling for mom. Inspection ran out 9/09. Registration ran out 4/09. Has been started every few weeks in the last 9 months. Currently idles rough when cold, but does run good when warmed up. A/C Was blowing Cold about 3 months ago, evidently needs a charge now. Dual exhaust, has a few small leaks. Recent heavy duty Bias-ply 16" truck tires in good condition. The brake problem has been fixed, it was the front brake hose as expected. $21 and about an hour's time. yeah, I know it took me awhile to get to it. This van Drives good. For those interested in driving it out of state, I would still suggest you trailer it home just to be safe. It's not been run in a while. I'm not saying it wouldn't make a 1,000 mile trip as it is, it most likely would, but I cannot guarantee it. (That left hose could go at any jab of the brakes....or it could last forever.) It's big, you'll need to bring a proper trailer. I dug out one of the rear passenger seats, and found the others in storage, will have those out before pickup. It has 3 rows. You can take what you like. It has a few very minor whiskey bumps and rust in a few indiscriminate spots detailed below. Drip rail around rear corners have some rust. Several rust holes in the floor pan, just inside the rear door, but not all rusted out. There's a hole in the corner of the "toe board" in driver's side footwell. (I think this may have been caused by father's steel-toe shoe repeatedly being stuffed into that corner ;-) This is not a rustbucket. Good & solid other than drip rails and rear floorboard. Paint could obviously use a buffing or repaint. It's original. You can see the leftover of where a school decals were on doors, the original owner. Cracked windshield, but it had passed Texas inspection as is before. Bend in rear bumper. Small section missing in plastic grille. Other misc little things. Interior is grungy with some stains, tears & damage here and there. Missing radio. sorry I forgot to take pics of the engine...but it IS a 360 with a 4bbl. Great work van. Also have several parts vans if you'd want to pull a thing or two off of those while you're here. Vehicle is located in Bellville, Texas, about 60 miles west of Houston, 90 miles southeast of Austin. Just off Hwy 36 between Brenham on Hwy 290 and Sealy on I-10. Easy to get to from just about anywhere. I'd like a $100 non-refundable deposit via PayPal needed within 48hrs. Remainder in cash, in person, on pickup. If you're not serious about owning this van, please, just don't bid and waste my time. I think the description and photos should tell you most of what you know, but if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me. I've set a reasonable reserve considering the engine/tranny combo would be great in a derby car ($), The van itself w/o engine/tranny would bring some cash just for scrap. But it's really too good a hauler to send there just yet. That reserve is $600. You won't find a better $600 one ton anything to haul crap. Cut the back off, make a hay/scrap/firewood/junk hauler. Pull the engine and trans for a derby or driver and use the van for storage, or scrap it for half your money back. I would, but I've got 4 other vans sitting around and more cars of my own than I know what to do with, and they're all Ford. This IS the first time I've sold a vehicle here, so hopefully I've covered everything. Thanks.
