Vehicle Detail
1979 GMC Jimmy High Sierra 4X4, 3rd owner, I bought off of a collector who had it for over 20 years who performed a light resoration and freshened it up. This reason I am selling is I just have too many toys and my “gun truck” has to go. This original SUV is fun and reliable, drive anywhere, and is very stable at highway speeds. There are a lot of factory options and options that make this rig heavy duty. It has newer paint and interior, not perfect, but also does not make you afraid to take this one in the woods or in the mud to have some fun. Take the top off and this thing really turns heads, you do not see these every day in this condition. Parts for these vehicles are plentiful and reasonably priced. I have ordered several parts for LMC and any auto parts store. No power windows or door locks to create headaches. This is also an easy truck to work on if you like to tinker. I have the original GM shop manual, sales brochures, and a 3 ring binder of literature about this vehicle and its options. Rebuilt 400 Small Block- 4bbl-lots of torque TH350 Automatic transmission which was also rebuilt 10,000 lb Warn Winch mounted on custom front steel bumper Power Steering and Power Brakes Tilt Steering Wheel NP203 Transfer Case-cast iron chain driven case Factory Full Time 4 Wheel Drive (easy conversion to lock-outs if desired about $150/axle) I just think it is neat that it is an original AWD vehicle. I have a bunch of information about converting if you have questions. The Drive Train is VERY STRONG like a mule. Rear Axle-GM Corporate 12-bolt (8.7/8-in. 1.31 Axle Dia. 30 Spline) Front Axle- GM Corporate 10-bolt (8.5-in. 1.28 Axle Dia. 28 Spline) Small Lift with Rancho Shocks 31 Gallon Gas Tank Weight: 4,371 New 100 Amp Alternator Dual Batteries New cap, rotor, plugs, and wires Extra Fuse block with 4 Auxiliary switches in customized switch box in cab Auxiliary Fog Lamps New Sony CD Stereo with Sony X-Plod speakers Removable Top 2 men can remove and reinstall in minutes 2 Gun Racks, one overhead in cab and the other window mounted on removable top Front and Rear Reece Receiver hitches Newer true dual exhaust Step nerf bars on each side Laredo Lock boxes behind each wheel in the rear Rubber mat no carpet in cab BF Goodrich Tires on Outlaw 2 rims in good condition (they look better with elbow grease) Cruise Control Heat works great There is factory AC, the belt is not hooked up, all plumbing is there, these are pretty simple systems, but when I drive it in the summer I have the top off, so I cannot guarantee the AC will work with a charge, but all the hardware is still in place. Insurance and licensing is very reasonable, I have it insured through Hagerty Collector Car Insurance for $7000 with $500K limits and it is $231 a year. This obviously depends on where you live and the owner’s driving record. There is one area of paint bubbling behind the driver’s door due to poor prep smaller than the size of a dollar. There is also a small spot the size of a quarter on the drivers doors where some rust is coming through, again poor prep work. The horn does not work, there is a visible spark connection at the steering wheel, but no relay or horn. The temperature gauge does not work, but all other gauges work and are accurate. This is a 31 year old truck, it is not perfect, but I am not asking perfect money, just fair price for a solid mechanically sound truck. If you are around and want to see the truck send a message and we can see what we can work out. Now for the normal disclaimers. I tried to take pictures of everything and describe the truck to the best of my knowledge. Please feel free to ask any questions before bidding as the truck is sold as is with no warranty. I hold the right to end auction early due to truck is listed locally. Buyer is responsible for ALL pick up and delivery arrangements and charges. I require a $500 dollar NON-REFUNDABLE deposit through paypal right after the end of auction and the remaining balance within 7 days (cash or cashiers check only). Title (I have in hand) and vehicle will NOT be released until payment clears bank.
