Vehicle Detail

1994 Chevy Cavalier - It Beats Taking The Bus! You're looking at a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier VL Coupe, which has been in my family since it was new. It's been my daily driver for almost 4 years. It's got 123,286 miles on it, so it's got a few annoying issues like most older cars do, but if you're looking for basic transportation, this car might just fit the bill. The Good: It Runs Just Fine! You can turn the key and drive it away - to the other side of the country, for all I know. The engine does not leak or burn oil or coolant (I have to add maybe half a quart of each between oil changes to keep it topped off). The tranny shifts, the brakes stop, the lights light up, and the steering wheel turns the car. It's not pretty, but this old Cavailer will get you from point A to point B. There's a cheap aftermarket CD player for your tunes, too! The Bad: 1.) Cosmetic Issues. Obviously, there's some rust on the rocker panels. The original hood was pretty rusty, so I replaced it with a junkyard hood from a Z24 cavalier and spray-painted it white to match the rest of the car. The interior is pretty faded, there's a few coffee stains, and the center console is cracked. Also, the tires may need to be replaced fairly soon if you want to be safe. 2.) No Power Steering. The hose blew out this past summer and I haven't bothered to replace it. You can still drive the car just fine, but parallel parking takes some muscle. :) 3.) No heat or A/C. There's a leak in the heater core, and rather than replacing it, I just ran a hose from the inlet to the outlet. The part itself is cheap, but you have to take the whole dashboard apart to get at it. Whether or not that's important enough for you to want to fix, only you can say. The blower fans all work OK; the A/C just needs a recharge. 4.) Thermostat sticks sometimes. Every couple of days, the temperature gauge will move all the way into the red as the car heats up. However, it immediately falls back into the normal operating range if I shut it off and back on again, and it runs normally from there on out. I'd guess that this is just a sticking thermostat or sending unit, but again, buyer beware. ...and honestly, that's about it. Any questions, please feel free to email. If you want to come kick the tires, you're welcome to do so; the car is located in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Buyer is REQUIRED to make a deposit of $100.00 via PayPal within 24 hours of the auction's end. If this deposit is not received within 24 hours, I will re-list the car or sell to the next highest bidder. After that, please be prepared to meet me in Pittsburgh no later than Saturday July 31st to pay cash for the remaining balance of your high bid amount, and to transfer the title and registration into your name (buyer assumes all costs associated with transfer/plates/etc). I would prefer to handle this at the AAA Motor Square Garden in East Liberty, but if you can't make it there I could meet you elsewhere in Pittsburgh - the car is very roadworthy, but it doesn't have current tags or inspection, so I'm hesitant to drive it very far. Due to the age of this car, I cannot offer a warranty. Please bid only if you are certain that you can abide by the terms of purchase stated above. These terms are potentially negotiable, but only if you ask BEFORE you bid on the car. If, upon seeing the car, you decide that you want to back out, I will agree to cancel your high bid, but you agree to surrender your $100.00 deposit in order to cover my time and expense in re-listing. Again, any questions, just ask. I've tried to be totally upfront in describing the good, the bad, and the ugly with this car, and the pictures don't flatter it any - what you see is what you get. That said, I do think it's got a few seasons left in it at least - I actually took a 600 mile road trip in it just before putting it away for the winter. Thanks for looking, and good luck!
