Vehicle Detail
1969 Javelin SST, 290 V8 automatic transmission. Body in better than average shape for an AMC. It has original paint some rust. Originally came with a vinyl roof, which rusted through in spots. Original roof SKIN has been removed and a donor skin has been sheetmetal screwed in place. NO SUPPORTS WERE CUT.The roof will require rewelding and some minor rust patch repair. The glass will have to be reseated and new door rubber would be a good idea. There is rust spots on the quarter panels and a spot here and there. Floor boards are not rusted. It appears the car was undercoated when it was new. Front bumper is dented from a minor fender bender, it may can be straightened. I had planned on replacing it. This car hasn't run in two years and would need a carb kit and some tuning to get running correctly. I did install an HEI type distributer on it. It has a two barrel carb. The engine still has exhaust manifolds and has never been hot rodded. The cars wiring needs help. I intended to completely rewired the car. All the AC components are in place. I am sure it will require attention. I did drive the car when I purchased it. The brakes were weak but it drove well in the 15 miles I did drive it. Transmission shifted well.It has the original 14" magnum 500 style wheels on it. Drum brakes all around. I do have a set of 71 donor disc break spindles and calipers {which will need to be rebuilt} that are included. The car has no keys. It was using a start button and the trunk has no lock in it. I do have a clear title. I have a rear spoiler that I will include. If the winning price goes over $2000.00 I will include a 360 dog leg port engine with less than 1000 miles on it and a AMC turbo 400 transmission. I paid $1500.00 for those two items alone. The engine is in long block configuration. This car does need alot of work but it does not require a lot of hunting for parts. I have found most of the things to complete this car. It has been sitting and it needs to be worked on.It has sat so long that the rear drum is frozen. That made me realize I needed to let this car go to a better owner. I just dont have the time. This is a realistic project for someone. No major issues to tackle, except maybe for the roof. I would recommend someone with quality body experience to do the work. The 360 was in a jeep and made great power. The turbo 400 2 wheel drive transmission is rare indeed for an AMC. This car could be ready for next spring with the right person.
