Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This auction is for a very sharp looking, nice driving, totally rust free MGA Roadster. The cut down Perspex windshield really sets it apart ..... giving it a classic racing look, which is guaranteed to turn heads at any car show. The windshield deflects enough air when driving to feel the wind in your hair, without needing eye protection. If you don’t see it coming, you will certainly hear it going, as the straight pipe makes some wonderful (loud) sounds. Vehicle received a body-off restoration (see pictures) 10 years ago and has gone approximately 7,000 miles since then. This car has been in use regularly, so it does not have the problems that these cars often suffer from because they have been sitting around for years. Underneath, the car is completely rust free..... even the two battery trays are not rusted out. -This I rarely see! The chrome is very good and complete. This factory original white car has been refinished in white pearl and the paint is still in very good condition, overall. It has a few chips that have been touched up and a hairline crack in the passenger door (see pictures). There are no dents or ripples in the body. The red leather interior is nice ..... the seats being supple and comfortably worn in. The black carpets and red door panels look quite new. The painted dash is in good shape, as are the Smiths and Jaeger gauges. The 1800 cc MGB engine starts easily from cold and feels strong with good oil pressure and no sign of overheating. It has an updated fan shroud on the radiator which probably helps. The 4 speed gearbox is unusually good ..... first and reverse being quiet and all 3 synchros working well to allow smooth shifting up and down. The brakes feel a little weak with the pedal going down a little further than I would like, but it pulls up nice and straight without any noise or fuss. The parking brake holds well and the rear axle is quiet. The clutch feels like it will need replacing soon. Overall, the car drives very well without any unwanted clonks or bonks from the suspension, having typical nice light steering, needing only slight input through the handsome wood rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel. Overall, the ride, steering and handling are very good. The tires are older Firestone bias ply white walls that I probably would not recommend taking up to very high speeds on the freeway. Dunlop 60 spoke wire wheels are in good condition, as are the functional 2 eared chrome knockoffs. The wiring appears to be original and mostly decent but the lights, horn and tachometer need minor repair. It has been sensibly converted to a single 12 volt battery and upgraded to electronic ignition. The engine and transmission have typical minor leaks. This car does not have a spare tire, or convertible top. These could be supplied along with a stock windshield at additional cost, if wanted. The yellow license plate is not included in the sale. To recap, this car is a great Southern California daily driver ..... or could be the basis for a stunning Concours restoration due to its rust free body. Bid with confidence, as this particular car certainly will not disappoint. We have sold many classic British sportscars and all buyers have left excellent feedback.
