Many believe that the '37 is the most attractive of all the prewar Chevy trucks. This red beauty, complete with original vertical grill, big fenders and bug-eye lights was found in a barn in Minnesota a few years ago. It was restored/renewed in Florida by a hobbist in 2005. The truck changed hands briefly before I bought it and I have talked to the restorer on the phone. According to him, the body was removed from the frame and the undercarriage cleaned and painted. The original '37 engine was replaced with the more durable 1962, 235HP (basically the same engine block as the original 216) and overhauled with new rings and valves. New brakes and brake lines were installed and the wood truck bed floor rebuilt. In 2006, I rebuilt the transmission with NOS transmission housing and new gears and bearings as needed. Very little body work was needed on the truck before painting. The paint has small chips in some places, particularly along the trailing edge of the drive door. The seat was reupholstered but there is no headliner. NOS windshield wiper motor was installed but is not hooked up to the engine vacuum. The speedometer is inoperable as is the parking brake (new brake and speedometer cables are included with the truck). Tailgate is not original to this truck. Odometer does not work. (Truck was shipped to Maryland, its current location, from Florida.) It has lived in a Maryland garage for the last 5 years, making occasional short trips to the USDA headquarters in Beltsville, Maryland and to church. The sale will include buyers manuals and some spare parts (for example, the windshield surround). You will be responsible for shipping.
