1982 BMW R-Series

I'm selling my rare 1982 BMW R65LS motorcycle. It has had 3 owners from new (2nd owner had it for 25 years). It has 28,400 original miles, original paint which still shines beautifully, original seat, shocks, exhaust, matching numbers engine, keys and key fob, never been down, and has been meticulously maintained. It comes with its orignal owners manual (has water damage from being kept under the seat), a letter from the original salesman to the bike's first owner, an envelope from the original dealer to hold the bike's papers, a 1982 listing of BMW's dealers in the US, the original sales brochure for the bike, and the original tool kit which is in excellent unused condition. The stickers under the bike's seat are still in excellent condition, the original shocks are still in great shape and have yellow inspection marks from the factory, the paint on the original wheels is still in very nice shape (a few nicks from 28k miles of riding), it still has the "wear your helmet" sticker next to the gas cap, original handgrips, original hand pump (which works), and the paint is still very presentable (although there are a few minor nicks from 28 years of use). The Bridgestone tires are 3 years old and are in perfect shape. Both mufflers have some rusting and bulging visible on the back undersides, but they are still quiet and very presentable (NOS mufflers are still available from BMW), and the exhaust pipes are in great shape. The bike starts right up and idles and runs very smoothly with great power. There is no smoking from this engine, although it has a minor leak from the oil pan gasket. The ignition has been upgraded with Accel coils and wires, and it has NGK platinum plugs (extra plugs underneath the seat for roadside emergencies). It comes with the German license plate, which gets a lot of favorable comments from other riders (note...plate may not be legal in your state). Both of the keys and locks are original to the bike and work. The seat has one visible scuff mark which is minor, and I did not recover the seat in order to keep the bike as original as possible. I do not have the original mirrors for the bike (the only non-original items on the bike). This bike was an early production R65LS (Dec. 1981) that came equipped with ATK front brakes instead of the more common Brembos (the brakes still have the original green inspection marks from the factory, and the brake lines are all original and dated to just before the bike's final assembly). I am selling the bike due to the purchase of a house... otherwise I would keep it. My reserve price is low, and finding another R65LS in this condition would be difficult.
