Vehicle Detail
NICE ! 2002 PT Cruiser ! No Reserve ! OK Folks, I've lowered the starting price as requested. There is still no reserve price, and the private party blue book value is between $2295 and $3495. Plus, the dual exhaust is a $500 extra that the Blue Book calculation doesn't even have an option for. Expect to pay much more for this vehicle if you found it on a dealer's used car lot. VIN 3C4FY48B02T216789 WARNING! The vehicle history report provided by ebay did not catch the "deer incident" described below and shown in the one old photo we provided. The vehicle history report indicates "no accidents". It is wrong, we know, we were there. There is no current damage. The damage caused by the deer was covered by insurance and repaired as shown on the new photos, but we want to make sure nobody is misled by the vehicle history report which seems to indicate that this vehicle was never damaged.5-Speed Manual Transmission withBRAND NEW CLUTCH !FUNCTIONAL DUAL EXHAUST ! This Is Good Reliable Transportation,That will haul a lot of stuff!151,000 MilesMostly InterstateWe are selling this vehicle because we bought a newer, nearly identical, 2008 PT Cruiser to replace it. Everything that has been replaced we consider normal wear items for the mileage driven. The engine does have some minor oil seepage, but has been losing less than a quart between changes. We purchased this vehicle as a pre-owned, one-owner car from a Chrysler dealership in 2004 with around 25,000 miles on the odometer. Here's another discrepancy in the Vehicle History Report provided by ebay. They have somehow calculated another owner. as far as we have been able to determine, we are the second owner of this vehicle, unless the original owner only put 48 miles on it. Soon after purchasing this car I replaced the original factory single exhaust with an aftermarket dual exhaust system. It took some effort to find a system with two working tailpipes that was reasonably quiet for daily use. It sounds good without waking the neighbors. The system added noticeable torque, especially on the highway in 5th gear. This car has below-normal wear and tear for a 2002 vehicle with very few paint chips or scratches. The interior and exterior finishes are not luxurious but have proved to be very durable with minimal care. Exterior:The Tan paint and clear-coat looks good and cleans up well. All of the paint is original except where the repairs were made to the driver side fender and hood after we hit the deer (see "accident" below). It's a very good match. I cannot tell that those panels are not original. Walking around the car, I found that the passenger side rocker panel has a very small ding below the door. There is also a barely noticeable ding and a small scratch on either side of the right tail light. See Photos, you will have to be very observant to notice either of those (close-up photos have been added). I have found no rust on the body and very little rust under the vehicle. The car was not even washed before taking these photos, this is how it usually looks. At some point I added chrome trim to the wheel openings and front grill. Some photos do show different tires. I tried a set of Bridgestone Poptenzas, but two failed within just a few months! The car now has a good set of 4 Goodyear P195/65/15 tires with at least 4/32 remaining tread depth. We will be adding some photos that show the dual exhaust and tire condition better. Photos added 26 June.Interior:Looks very good. It's actually a two-tone tan and gray combination, with cloth seats. The seats, carpets, headliner, and arm rests are in great shape with a small wear spot in the carpet at the driver's heel area and a few coffee stains on the carpet that missed the original floor mats. The cloth seat upholstery shows little wear with no rips. the arm rests do have a "polished" appearance from lots of use but no rips or tears. The painted plastic dash panel on the passenger side has some small dents and scrapes in the finish. The carpet in the trunk area has what looks like a black heel mark, See photos. One Accident:In October 2008 we had a minor disagreement with a deer. The Damage Photo is included in this ad. It broke the driver's side headlight, bent the fender, hood, and cracked some the plastic grill and wheel well parts. The damage was nearly all cosmetic. We were able to drive the car 15 miles home and drove it 25 miles to the body shop the next day. In addition to the obvious repairs, the body shop replaced the radiator and checked for any alignment issues. There was no other hidden damage, no frame work, and no wheel alignment required. The vehicle drives and handles the same as it always did. I ended up replacing the passenger side headlight, so it would match the new one.Cargo Space:This is a great car for errands, road trips, and commuting. It drives well in snow since it's a front-wheel drive vehicle. It gets reasonably good gas mileage considering it's a relatively heavy vehicle that can carry lots of stuff. The rear suspension is all below the floor, there are no rear shock towers in the way. So, with the rear seats folded or removed, the rear compartment will accommodate VERY large packages with the rear hatch closed! The PT Cruiser is also rated for towing a small utility trailer, with the proper hitch. See Option Below. Mechanical Condition:The engine starts quickly and runs great cold or hot. The clutch assembly is brand new, the transmission shifts in and out of all gears as it should. Everything mechanical has been serviced and is up-to-date. The car was recently inspected (April) so wipers, glass, brakes, and other safety items all passed or were fixed. The AC. Heat, Radio, CD, Speakers, Lights, Power Windows, Locks, Keyless Entry, Clock, Compass, Gauges, and other accessories all work as they should. The next service item needed will be a transaxle lube change around September or October.Terms & Conditions:There is no delivery on this vehicle, pick-up only! We live approx. 30 miles west of Richmond, VA near the Gum Spring exit from I-64. The vehicle is currently insured and still has the license plates on it. So, it can be test-driven with no worries. We have done our absolute best to represent this vehicle exactly as it is. Please remember it is an 8+ year old vehicle with over 150,000 miles. The stated mileage is our actual miles per gallon. Your mix of city/highway driving, and driving habits, will be different. Some people report getting less than 24 MPG with this vehicle. Maybe they have to drive up-hill both ways? There is no warranty on this vehicle. It is being sold AS-IS. This PT Cruiser has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned, we can't guarantee anything, but there are no current maintenance or repair issues, and we have no reason to believe the car won't continue to be dependable transportation. All other related expenses (license, title, registration fees, state, local taxes, insurance, delivery charges, etc.) are the responsibility of the purchaser. The successful high bidder must submit a $200 non-refundable deposit/down-payment through PayPal within 48 hours to secure the vehicle. Buyer agrees to pay the remaining balance in cash or certified bank check, or personal check within 7-days of the close of the auction. All financial transactions must be completed before the title will be signed over to the buyer. Payments other than cash will have to be accepted by a bank before the signed title will be provided. We will release the vehicle with a receipt and release the title as soon as a bank accepts the payment.Optional:For an additional $200 over the final selling price, we will provide and install a Class I receiver frame hitch made specifically for the PT Cruiser with a 1-1/4" receiver tube. As previously mentioned, the factory wiring harness for a trailer is already on the vehicle (standard flat-4 connector). If this option is desired, please add $200 to the remaining balance to be paid when you pick the vehicle up. Please, let us know if you want this option, so we will have time to get the hitch and install it. Positive feedback will be left for the winning bidder as soon as final payment is received. Please, read this ad and review the photos carefully. Please ask any questions prior to bidding on this auction, especially if the answer may cause you to reconsider your bid. Do Not Bid Unless You Intend To Buy!
