Vehicle Detail
1966 Mustang Convertible. UNIQUE – Outstanding condition/V8/4-speed. NR. THIS IS A NO-RESERVE AUCTION. A definite head-turner that attracts a lot of attention. You will get “thumbs-up” every time you drive it! Why is this car unique? • San Jose Special (Manufactured in the San Jose, California plant). • Beautiful, shiny red paint. Few nicks and dings. • Very solid. Practically no rust. Car spent most of its life in California. (Two small bubbles plus some rust around seal in the trunk. Please see pictures). • AM/8-track radio option + about 100 tapes. (Does not work; trying to get it fixed) • Styled-steel wheels (OEM, not reproductions. These withstand corrosion much better than the repros.) • Two-tone Pony upholstery in almost perfect shape • Original 4-speed top-loader transmission. • Factory limited-slip differential Many new parts have been replaced during restoration (top with split glass – not plastic - window, upholstery, carpet, radiator + hoses, windshield, muffler, brake system, etc.). I wish I could keep it; it is my dream car. But daughter going to college and medical bills leave me no choice. If you are comparing prices, you should keep in mind that (a) V8 cars are worth about 20% more than 6 cylinder models, (b) 4-speed cars command 20% more than automatic, and (c) Pony interior increases the value of the car by 10% (per NADAguides dot com). The car is in an advanced stage of restoration. There are a handful of thing needed to finish it. Please note that this is not a trailer queen; it is not a perfect car, but it is well on its way to becoming one. List of things I planned to do but ran out of time and money: + Freshen up front suspension (vibrates at highway speeds, could be wheel balancing) + Replace clutch throw-out bearing (not critical). Included with the car (uninstalled) + Replace door/window weatherstripping. + Replace turn-signal switch (does not return) + Fix emergency flasher The engine and clutch are very strong; they appear to be the original, untouched ones! 79,999 miles. I have just replaced the speedometer gear; I am not sure for how long before I purchased it was inoperative. The undercarriage looks fantastic! Engine bay primed with POR15. The car is located in Beaverton, a suburb of Portland, Oregon. I can take the vehicle to any local auto transport company, or help in any way I can. SHIPPING/PICK UP OF THE VEHICLE WILL TAKE PLACE ONLY WHEN THE FUNDS HAVE CLEARED THE BANK. This could take up to two weeks. Clear Oregon title in my name. Be assured the car is as described. My aim is for the transaction to be a smooth one. I want to keep my perfect feedback that way. Please keep in mind that this is a 44 year-old vehicle, so there is no warranty expressed or implied. The vehicle is sold as-is, where-is. If in doubt about something please ask. Bidders are welcome to have the car inspected personally or by a third-party (prior to the end of the auction, of course). A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 via PayPal is due within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Full payment is due within 7 days of the end of the auction by wire transfer or personal check. US Funds only. Successful bidder will be responsible for the prompt shipping or pick-up of the vehicle. I can keep it in the garage for up to a month after auction end, at no extra charge. Payment is due as indicated above. If the successful bidder plans to have the car shipped, I can prep it for transportation by applying a thick coat of wax to help protect the paint. When you bid (and win) you are entering into a legally-binding contract. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time (prior to the reserve price being met) should the vehicle no longer be available for sale, as it is for sale locally. International buyers are welcome. THANKS FOR LOOKING. Keywords: Ford, Mustang, Convertible, convertable, 1964, 1965, 1966, 64, 65, 66, solid, beautiful, muscle. NOTE TO INTEREST BIDDERS ON THE WEST COAST: I will be driving from Portland to Monterey California at the end of July; if interested I can rent a car carrier to deliver the car to you and lower the shipping costs; you would simply pay for the rental of the carrier and for 1/3 of the gas. Because of time constraints I would not be able to deliver it further south.Payment is due as indicated. Thanks.
