Vintage 1948 Willys Jeepster Older frame-off restoration still looks very good. Repainted in original butter yellow with black accents and white vinyl top. Includes all 4 side curtains. Rebuilt 4-cylinder flat head engine, 3 speed "on the tree" transmission with overdrive. Stock floor starter. Heater fan works. Most of the stainless accent pieces are in beautiful condition as I have polished them over the years. We've owned it for 5 years and completed the following: - New original-look red leather with white piping upholstery - New black hartz cloth with red piping tonneau cover - New black carpet - New Seat belts - front and rear - New brakes - New clutch - Rebuilt fuel pump - New booster electric fuel pump - New 6 Volt Optima battery - NOS "DMV Clear" 1948 California license plate - New windshield wiper blades - New shock absorbers - Replacement visors - not original - Rebuilt speedometer and odometer. This vehicle starts without fail every time, no matter how long between starts, and drives as good as a 62 year old vehicle can. The new brakes work well, the transmission shifts easily and the Overdrive works perfectly, including downshifting. This older restoration looks and runs great but is not perfect. Here are the things that aren't so good: - Not original air cleaner - Some of the chrome, particularly on the hub caps, is thin or pitted. - There are some minor paint chips and blemishes. - The steering wheel is original and has the normal cracks. - Windshield wipers run very, very slowly and sometimes not at all. - The tires have lots of tread, but are old and the white side wall material is cracked and crazed.
