Vehicle Detail

I've owned this car for about 5 years. The car is in fair overall condition and drivable but does need work, you'll need to pick up where I left off. Reserve price has been lowered accordingly. Looks pretty good for a 25+ year old car. The paint is not as nice as it looks in the pictures, there are a few chips and scratches which are shown in the detail shots. No rust. One air intake was door dinged in a parking lot. The convertible top is newer and has a tiny rub over one hinge but otherwise very nice. A boot is included and is in good shape except for a couple snaps that do not work but it flaps around too much to use in my opinion. It's wearing a very nice set of Ferrari 360 wheels and Hill Engineering stainless lug bolts and the original TRX rims (and tires) are in my basement and will be included unless you don't want them. Inside, the interior is aged and cracked, not cosmetically to a concours Ferrari standard but typical for any other car of this age. Ought to be redone but I haven't gotten around to it. Some carpets are loose and somewhat worn, seats are dried and cracked and in need of covers or reupholstering, and some of the leather trim needs to be glued back down. The dash lights are out. The blower is weak but the AC is cold, and heat's plenty OK for a cold day with the top up. However the heater core and AC compressor are operated by manual switches in the glove box because the broken switch that normally controls them couldn't be purchased. Windows go up and down with typical leisurely pace. Nice newer Alpine stereo and speaker with an amp installed under the hood. Mechanically, handles nicely and runs well. Shifter is a little sticky into 2nd gear on a cold morning but loosens up within a mile or two. Considerable expense has been spent on the car both by me and by prior owners, you're welcome to examine a large stack of receipts. Belts, gaskets, hoses, sensors, complete fuel injection system overhaul, plugs, wires, brakes and rotors, clutch cylinder, alternator, starter, bushings, alignment all have been fixed/replaced (i.e. major service and then some is done). But the car remains somewhat electrically unreliable and prone to unpredictably strand and aggravate its driver by not starting. Keeping a trickle charger on the battery helps a lot with some but not all electrical glitches. The other issue with the car right now is that it idles way too fast, ~2200 instead of ~1200. The last mechanic to look at it was not especially clever and could not identify the problem, friends have suggested a vacuum leak or bad sensor but it has not been worked out. Bought a new battery last week but starting problem persists. Also have the folio, manual, and tool roll for the car. So to summarize the known issues with the car would be a rough interior, the fast idle, and random electrical gremlins that include the dash lights, and maybe the starter and idle troubles as well. Be prepared to tinker or have someone tinker on your behalf as these problems have not been sorted through. You can and should call me at 314 494 7669 with any questions, I personally think you'd be nuts to consider buying something like this without speaking to the seller. I'd like to say you could hop right in it and drive home, but I wouldn't if you were going very far. Will do all I can to help your shipper if one is needed though. Please, only bid if you're interested in owning the car, I don't need any more deadbeats like Donald Bernhardt of Valparaiso Indiana not responding to e-mails and hanging up on me. I'd like a $1000 deposit from the winner within 3 days of the end of the auction and the rest upon pickup.
