Vehicle Detail
1969 Ford Mustang Convertible 351W 2V Deluxe/Deluxe Interior, 117K original miles I have owned this Mustang since 1987 and it has been an excellent car. The car is highly optioned from new: 351 Windsor engine Double deluxe white vinyl interior Console Power steering Power brakes Power top Folding glass rear window "Rim blow" steering wheel I have installed a CD/MP3 player in the dash with an aftermarket dash speaker. I have the original AM radio and woodgrain radio bezel. The car is a well maintained survivor, it has never been "restored" or otherwise disassembled. It has been repainted from the original Acapulco blue, and it has had an interior kit and new carpets installed. The car looks amazing, but the engine compartment is not detailed. The color change was very thorough, you won't find blue anywhere. Recent maintenance: New rebuilt Pony Carbeurator 10/09 New battery 10/09 New rebuilt starter motor 9/09 New power steering lines 6/10 New distributor cap, plugs, and wires 5/10 New fuel tank sending unit 5/10 Replaced the dash printed circuit and all the dash lightbulbs 9/09 Older maintenance: The rear springs were replaced in the mid-90's When the car was repainted, the driver's side left quarter panel was repaired with new sheet metal The car has General tires with less than 3,000 miles on them The coil was replaced about 6 years ago The grill emblem was replaced with a reproduction The car has newer battery cables The muffler was replaced in the early 90's Condition: As you can see from the pictures, the car is in overall great condition. It really turns heads and draws comments everywhere it goes. You can drive it anywhere and enjoy yourself. The dashpad is original and in great shape, no cracks. The rimblow steering wheel works, just squeeze the rim to honk the horn. Power top works, blower motor, wipers, etc. all good. The interior kit still looks great, carpet is fresh. As you can see from the pictures, the trunk and trunk floor are solid, the door jams are solid, under the hood, firewall, etc. are all free from rust. Shock towers are also solid. In terms of needs, here is the list: The car leaks a bit of oil, and a bit of transmission fluid. The leaks are very slow, not to the degree that you have to top up with any regularity, but you will see spots under it if it sits somewhere for a long time. (All old cars leak in my experience). The fuel gauge reads high, but still works. I replaced the sending unit, and dash printed circuit board, and checked all the connections, and I'm pretty sure the issue is the guage itself. You can get a new one for $35 or bend this one to calibrate it. The "button" on the top left rear seat is loose and will fall out. It either needs to be glued in place, or re-clamped from the back. The car has the original 1969 convertible top boot, which could stand to be replaced, one snap is broken. The convertible top looks very presentable, but since it's white it has a couple dirt spots on it from where the top folds into the body. Finally, there are some paint issues. The paint job on the car was very good when originally done, but it hasn't been painted in a long time. There are a few dings on the hood as pictured, one of which was touched up. There is a chip on the cowl. There are small rust bubbles on the bottoms of both doors, and over the passenger side rear wheel. These are not noticeable from more than 5 feet away, so you can drive and enjoy, but if you wanted it to be "show quality" the car would need to be painted and the engine compartment detailed. The front bumper also has a small spot where the chrome has chipped off. I have tried to detail all blemishes in the photos. The rest of the paint is still great. I have owned and enjoyed this car for a long time -- 23 years! It has served me very well, I'm selling simply because it's time for something new. http://s226.photobucket.com/albums/dd69/ptroost/1969%20Mustang/ This car is also for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction if there are not any bids. On Jun-07-10 at 10:40:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Added photos of door tag and undercarriage: Slideshow One last thing: virtually everything for this car is available from catalogs as reproduction parts. The exception is the door / windshield pillar weather seals which are unique to the 1969 convertible. I replaced these in approx 2006 with new old stock which cost roughly $350.
