About the Seller I take great pride in the fact that in my 10+ years as a member of the ebay community with over 100 sells, my 100% positive rating reflects that I have never had a dis-satisfied customer. I credit this to the fact that I am very selective in what I sell; am intentionally overly critical and thorough in my descriptions; and make every effort to provide fast, responsive communication. Frequently Asked Questions Can I see it/drive it/inspect it? You bet. Shoot me an email and I'll give you the directions. What will it cost to ship it to...? Generally about 50 cents to 1 dollar per mile. Click the “Vehicle Shipping Quote is Available” link at the top of this listing for a more specific quote. Ebay’s system will automatically put determine the distance behind the vehicle’s location and your home address and provide up to three shipping quotes for this vehicle. I also recommend uship.com. They have a vehicle shipping service that is very similar to ebay’s bidding process which often produces very good prices. If you need any more help with shipping quotes, just shoot me an email. Will you arrange shipping? We will be more than happy to assist in making the arrangements for you with the understanding that the shipping cost is ultimately the buyer’s responsibility. Are you a dealer? Sort of. I’m a guy who loves unique vehicles and a licensed dealer rep, but I work from my home. This gives my customers the best of both worlds: the security of knowing that you are protected by a dealer’s bond/license and the pricing that you would get from a private party who has no advertising, overhead, or other typical dealer expenses. Do you add doc fees, dealer prep, or destination charges? No. Those are just silly fees that dealers stick in their pocket. I don’t believe in it. If you win this auction, the only thing that you'll pay to me is your bid. What is your return policy? Basically, once you have taken possession of the vehicle, it cannot be returned. However, at the time of your pickup (before you take possession), if you feel that we have not described the vehicle accurately and honestly in our listing, we will cancel the auction and refund your deposit. Ultimately, if you feel that we have not described the vehicle with 110% accuracy, then you are not obligated to purchase it. Please note, however, that in 10 years as an ebay member, no one has ever said that one of my listings was inaccurately described. . You are bidding on a no reserve auction for a hard to find ‘89 928 S4 with a 316 hp (not the 288 hp found in pre-87's) engine that will flat out fly....and that looks and sounds great while doing it! Without a doubt, if you have a Porsche collection, the 1989 928 S4 is THE year for the 928, which sported both the much more powerful 316 hp 5.0 L V8 and the upgraded digital dash computer/monitors. Of course, if you are just looking for a daily driver that will turn heads while appreciating in value, this beautiful piece of German engineering will certainly fit the bill, too! This was a Florida collector’s car that runs perfectly and has the throaty roar that will put a smile on your face! In fact, it was $75,000 new over 21 years ago! Unfortunately, the real estate market has been brutal, so here’s your chance to own the legend! Here’s some information about the vehicle’s heritage from Wikipedia: “..The 928 S4 variant debuted in the second half of 1986 as a 1987 model, an updated version of the 5.0 L V8 for all markets producing 320 PS (235 kW/316 hp), sporting a new single-disc clutch in manual gearbox cars, larger torque converter in automatics and fairly significant styling updates which gave the car a cleaner, sleeker look... ...the 928S was the fastest car sold in North America...Incidentally, its appearance in the film Risky Business attempted to capitalize on this fact.” Description: Ok, let’s get to the details: History/Title: This vehicle was originally a California car and spent half of its life in California and half of its life in Florida. According to its carfax, the vehicle has never been wrecked or salvaged or listed as an insurance claim. We have a clear title in hand that will be signed over at delivery (or Fedexed within 24 hours of payment if we are shipping the car). Exterior: The vehicle’s exterior is in unbelievable shape for its age/mileage. With 140k, you would expect a lot of minor chips on the front bumper. This vehicle has almost none, so I suspect that it has been painted to its original factory color...and if so they did an excellent job. There is only one chip on the front bumper and one chip/scratch on the spoiler. They are very small and are difficult to see in the photos, however I've done my best to point them out. I would easily give the exterior a 9 out of 10 and go further to say that I can't imagine that you'll find another 928 with a better exterior. Glass: Again, I can’t imagine a car that has been 140k miles without a single rock chip or something...especially one with this much glass. But, this glass has absolutely no chips. I would suspect that it had been replaced because it is perfect. I don’t give 10's, but if I did, this would get it. I’m rating the glass a 9. Tires/Rims: The vehicle has apparently new Kumho Ecsta ASX tires. They easily have over 80% tread left. Its chrome rims sport the Porsche logo and are mirror-like (seriously you can see my reflection when I’m taking the picture). They are near perfect. Again, I don’t give 10's, but nobody would argue with these being a 9. Interior: All of the interior is the original camel/tan leather that gives it the classic Porsche look. The front seats naturally show more wear than the rear. However, none of the leather has any rips or tears. The carpet is unstained and untorn, I’ll give them an 8. The dash has a small crack that is barely worth mentioning (and easily repairable), so I’ll give the dash an 8 out of 10. The leather headliner doesn’t show any sagging or tears. I’ll give it a 9. Mechanical: We have had the vehicle checked. Absolutely no mechanical problems. No leaks. Air blows cold. The motor is extremely clean. I’ll give its mechanics a 9. Driving: Whoo hooo! It drives very quiet and very, very, very tight. No rattles, no shimmies at highway speeds. Automatic transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. Lightning fast acceleration. Hey, it’s a Porsche...what else would you expect? If I gave 10's it would get it. I’m giving it a high 9. Known issues: 1. Power sunroof. The switch needs to be replaced. I just found this issue and it was too late to get this fixed before the auction. However, I can get this part ordered and installed before delivery at my cost if you would like. 2. T-handle on gear shift is cracked at base. The car drives beautifully and you can’t tell visibly tell that the handle is cracked, so this is not a required repair for its functionality (but would definitely be a must if you are a collector). The original handle is $382. An aftermarket graphite version is $182. Or I’m sure that a used one could be found for about $50. There would be $0 charge for labor as this just snaps in. I didn’t want to replace this, as this is one of those matters of personal preference (aftermarket vs original). If you would like me to arrange this for you at my cost prior to delivery, I will be happy to do it. 3. Stereo. The car has a Pioneer stereo/CD with detachable face and remote control. Unfortunately, the face is missing. Again, the stereo is so much of a personal preference (especially among Porsche guys), that I didn’t want to spend money on it and then have the new owner to re-spend money on it. If you’d like me to just replace the face that’s in it, I’ll do it for $120. If you want to put a completely different stereo in, just tell me what you’d like I’ll be happy to do that as well. All of the issues above are, of course, optional. My goal is to deliver your dream Porsche...however you personally definite it. Summary: This is a great looking, great running 928 that is the right year for any collection or a great head-turning daily driver that will appreciate in value. I seriously doubt that you’ll be able to find one that is in better condition. Best of luck in the auction! Thanks for visiting and best of luck in the auction!
