Mercedes Benz 1972 350 SL (4.5 litre engine) in excellent condition, with 99,475 miles. All original with one quality repaint, in original red. California car, originally delivered in Beverly Hills, CA, to the original owner who owned the car until 2005. I am the second owner, and have only put 5,500 miles on the car in the 4 1/2 years that I have owned it. This is the first year of the 107 body style, and has the attractive smaller chrome "European" style bumpers. This is the U.S. version, with the 4.5 liter V-8 engine. The model designation was changed to "450 SL" the following year, so the rare U.S. version 350 SL was only produced in 1972. This car has the removable hard top, as well as the foldable cloth soft top in excellent condition. Red exterior, black MB Tex interior, Automatic Transmission, original Becker Europa AM/FM stereo, power steering, power windows, air conditioning, and heated back window (hard top). Body and interior are in excellent condition. Vehicle was repainted 5 years ago with Dupont Chromabase paint and clear coat, and is in very good condition with a few minor nicks and scratches. Engine runs strong, transmission shifts smooth. The Mercedes Benz 4.5 litre V-8 has been described as "bulletproof", and they routinely reach 200,000 miles with only regular maintenance. Chrome: Excellent on bumpers and trim, with some hazing on window trim. Michelin Tires have only 5,500 miles on them and are in excellent condition. Air conditioning has been converted to R-134 system, and blows cold. Original dash has no cracks, and the clock still works. There is a detachable, factory rechargeable flashlight in the glove box, and it works perfectly. Owner's Manual and the factory top removal tool are included. SUMMARY: This is an excellent "driver" quality car (not a "show" car), which should provide many more years of pleasurable top-down cruising, and you will always get the "thumbs up" from other motorists.
