Vehicle Detail

My father bought this 100 in 1958 from a friend and co-scout leader. Pop was the third owner from new. Some of the info here is based on talks between Pop , myself, our family friend /2nd owner about the 1st owner. Basically the car is unchanged since it rolled out of the factory in 1954 or 1955. The car was operated continuously from 1958 to 1966, sporadically until 1969 [Pop got an E type, series 1] and was stored until 1979 after the E was gone. After an engine rebuild, new concave pistons, con rods, valve springs, seals, gaskets etc.. ,the car was back on the road. I saved most of the parts that he replaced. He started on interior and boot trim and paint up until his death interrupted further progress. Last registered and driven in 1986, last run but not driven in 1988. It was then flatbedded to Lyons, IL, from its lifetime home in Chicago, and garage stored and covered to date. Anti-frzd, trickle charged, and oiled. Car was originally red with solid red interior including the hood/top, tonneau, hood capture, seats, carpet, and boot trim. Pop saved everything so I still have all of the preceding. Member the 1954 or 1955 above? Its not a Quiz. There are a number of inconsistencies, it came with Austin of England badge, louvered bonnet without strap, and a unique drivers fresh air exterior vent . Pop and I guessed/joked that the Brits having fried their feet off in the footwell took a car off the assembly line, vented the bonnet and footwell, painted it fire engine red, and sent it out into the world. They must have known it didn't work [trust me!] so they went on to seal the heat out of the footwell at a later date. The center of the car is aluminum with only the boot in steel. There do not appear to be any M modifications. Changes to car over the years, single 12V series 24 battery, replacing 6volters in tandem. I have the original hold down frames. Flash engine inline coolant heater,120V [hey, Chicago gets cold!]. I replaced the clutch and throwout bearing in 1966, trim changed to black with yellow piping, new hood/top. Body is in primer with the intension of painting it Belgian racing yellow . Master and wheel cylinders rebuilt in 1983 but fluid has leaked out. Fuel tank replaced but there were problems with fuel delivery. I found a bunch of used in line filters after one late night SU and flashlight episode. First time Pop went to fill new tank at gas station another car bent the rear bumper while the car was stationary [see pics]. Car should be considered as not running as I have not attempted to start it "dry". I've been as candid as memory and manual notes and receipts allow. Its time to let someone else take a shot at enjoying my "first' ride. Buyer accepts responsibility for pickup and shipment of vehicle.
