Vehicle Detail

1969 Meyers Manx Dune Buggy Titled as a 1969 this is a real Meyers Manx, an early production car that was manufactured without a vin tag. Per the Meyers club website: Some of the earlier cars did not have a tag with the serial no., although those same cars would have the battery box well and spare tire sump molded into the area behind the front seats. This car does have the sump and battery box as well as the reinforcing tube under the driver's side fender. Additionally, it does have the raised area for the emblem on the front hood, as well as the "MANX" logo on the rear. Pictures have been sent to Bruce Meyers and the certification papers will go with the Buggy. It has the original blue-sparkle gel coat and has never been painted. The Gel coat is dull but it might be OK with a wet sand and clear coat. The Fiberglass is in good condition with the only visible damage on the left front fender (see pictures). It runs and drives great and everything works. The pan is tight and has no rust through. Comes with factory optional hard top. Features: Single port motor- probably 1500 or 1600 Swing axle rear suspension Working head lights and tailights Hi-beam and Lo-beam switch Speedometer Brake lights Turn signals Horn Stock VW warning lights for Generator and Oil pressure Fuel gauge Rear view mirror Roll bar Widened stock VW Wheels The transmission and clutch work fine and the motor runs great. The tires have good tread but are old and could stand to be replaced. The windshield has a crack on the driver's side. The drivers seat has a tear in the seat cover and the rear seat pads are weathered. All in all a decent example of a real Manx that would'nt take much to make a show car or drive as is. Car is offered for sale locally in Scottsdale, Arizona and is available for inspection upon appointment. Seller reserves the right to end auction early if reserve has not been met. Thanks for looking and feel free to contact me with any questions. Happy bidding! On May-31-10 at 09:01:06 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional items: Working windshield wipers New Empi wiring loom installed On Jun-02-10 at 21:10:58 PDT, seller added the following information: After reviewing the description text- The damage to the fender (which is still in the picture) is on the right, or passenger's side of the buggy, not the left side as stated. I'm sure most have figured it out, but I thought I would clarify. Apparently my brain is fairly small :) On Jun-04-10 at 22:49:53 PDT, seller added the following information: As of 6/4/10 I have been advised by the Meyers Manx club that based on the reinforcement tubes under the fenders, they have determined that it is not a real Meyers Manx. My apologies to all that have been viewing the listing. I am very surprised at the determination- as everything else looks like a Manx and I was unaware of any identical (externally viewed) knock offs, but I have to bow to the experts. The reserve has not yet been met and the buggy is still available, but I cannot certify that it is a true Manx. Sorry for any confusion. On Jun-05-10 at 10:47:10 PDT, seller added the following information: After receiving an email indicating that real Manx's have a metal support under the 2 piece dash I have attached a picture showing the metal support behind the dash board (last picture). Also, I would like to find out who made an exact reproduction of the early Manx. I 've searched but can't come up with anything- so if anyone has any information I would appreciate it.
