Vehicle Detail

I am selling my 1987 Honda XL600R. As you can see in the pictures she is a great bike. I am selling it because I upgraded to a sport bike and my wife is not happy about two bikes in the garage. The bike has 9100+ miles on it as I am still riding it occasionally for fun. Maintenance is up to date and the bike has been lovingly cared for. The following was what was done since February 2010. - In February I put on new dual purpose tires. - March - New spark plug and wire. - March - Adjusted valves and de-greased the engine. There are no oil leaks whatsoever! - April - changed the oil and filters. - April - New chain and clutch cable, speedometer cable, and brake cables. - April - Installed rear trunk. It is lockable and I sealed it against the weather. April - Exhaust wrapped the header. I was tired of getting a hot leg when riding with shorts on. The speedometer does not work. It needs a new speedometer gear at the front tire. I replaced it on another bike and the part cost me $9.00 and it took about 20 minutes to remove the front tire and replace it. I have not had time to do it on this bike but if you need me to I can give you the web address to find the part yourself. I just noticed today during my ride that it needs a headlight. Cosmetically the bike is in good condition. There are swirl marks in the tank paint and a dent with a small (quarter sized) bit of surface rust on the bottom right hand side of the tank which you can see in the picture. I don't know how it happened as it was there when I bought the bike. There is some surface rust on the center of the handlebars. It could be steel wooled out if you want. The bike could use some new shock boots as well but they are not necessary for inspection. The bike runs great and purrs like a kitten. I have never ridden it off road or abused the throttle. It is strong and gets to high way speeds very quickly and will cruise at 60 - 80 all day long. It is currently tagged and titled in MD. I had the bike on Craig's list and got many calls from people trying to find their stolen bike. Again, it is tagged and titled in my name in MD. I wouldn't have been able to do that if it was your stolen bike, so please don't send me fishy emails. While riding the bike I averaged 50 mpg so it's been great with the fuel costs being how they are. I have exhaust header gaskets, new mirrors, and the original tool kit to go with the bike. Sorry, no owners manual but you can get them here on Ebay for cheap. I think that's all I have to say. If you have questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for looking. Pick up only or you arrange the shipping. I can be there to help load it into your truck or trailer if needs be but I cannot ship the bike. I may even be agreeable to meeting you somewhere or delivering it with 50 miles. For future reference: If someone were to show up with cash in hand for this bike I would close the auction down. Best offer at that point would probably take it. But serious offers only. I paid $1500 for the bike less than a year ago and put over $500 into it in parts.
