Vehicle Detail
The Bad the Ugly and the Good... The Bad: The Tie-Rod-End recently broke while being driven. I replaced the Tie-Rod-End, but I noticed that some damage has been done to the hub, and the CV joint looks like it may have gotten some damage. The engine has been misfiring for a long time now. I have never figured out why (I suspect it is the injectors). It is much worse when it rains. It did not pass the last emission test. The brake drums are probably warped as the brakes pulse when applied. When I got it 6 years ago I suspected it has been in a collision before. After working on it for the past 6 years I am pretty sure it has. The front finders have definately been replaced and the front end has been repainted. The AC had a lot of work to get it going, it was working great for a year. It now works intermittently, I'm sure there is some moisture in the system. The Ugly: It has some rust in the sliding door. It shows that it has 125K miles, the driver seat had the plastic around it broken, the kids seat has a hole, there are some stains on just about every seat and carpet piece. There is a dent in the back (hey, my kids learned to drive in it). The body work on one of the front fenders is cracking out. The antenna does not fit properly, the cassette unit is from a different car and does not fit properly. The Good: The AC has no broken parts (probably), just moisture. Even though it's missing, it does run and is drivable. The tires were recently replaced and have good tread on them. Other than when it broke the tie-rod-end it has never let me down. We have driven it from the Chicago area to Florida and back several times. I have some tools you can use if you want to re-adjust the toe-in. It is obviously out after replacing the tie-rod-end. It does not burn or leak oil. It is spacious inside, one of the bigger mini-vans (The Villagers got smaller in the following years). If you have any questions or want to see it please EMail me.
