Vehicle Detail
This will be a long listing so if your interested, I'm sure you won't mind reading it all. I will try to give the most accurate description I can. I have many more pictures I can send via e-mail and test drive/inspections of the car are more than welcome. Up for bid is my 69 Mustang Fastback. I never intended on selling this car and I have owned it for 5 years. We are expanding our family, buying land, selling our house, etc and we could use some extra cash. I don't have time to enjoy the car now or any time soon. However, if the car does not meet the reserve, that's fine with me. I'm not in a desperate position to sell. So please don't make offers. Just bid if your interested. The reserve is very reasonable and I'm not looking to get a small fortune. This car overall, in my opinion is in driver condition and is a mild resto-mod. Not a show car or anywhere near 100% perfect. Just get in and drive anywhere without worries. The car is tagged and insured and drove only on nice weekends. It is garaged the rest of the time. I have the contact info of the previous owner that owned the car for around 10 years. He purchased it from a co-worker so the history can be traced back around 20 years or so. I have a Marti Autoworks report on the car and a Ford 999 history report also. Clear title in my name. Vin number is present in 6 different locations and all match-windshield tag, buck tag, door tag, both inner fenders and engine block. This car is not a Mach 1 or Boss. It is a unrstored F code (302 2V) Sportsroof with some nice options. It has deluxe interior, console, power steering, power disk brakes and AC. The AC parts are removed underhood but all parts are included. The previous owner spent some money trying to get the AC working but had no luck. He replaced many of the parts with NOS Ford parts (hoses and condenser). But I think the mechanic he had working on it was out of ideas. He was told the compressor was bad and just gave up. It could be fixed and all parts are there and will be included. The car has the original numbers matching 302 (the VIN is stamped on the block). It is far from stock now. It was pulled to detail/clean the engine compartment right after I purchased the car. It has been rebuilt with .030 over flat top pistons, shaved, ported original 69 heads with 1.94 and 1.60 valves, Crane cam with .484 lift, Comp roller rockers, Edelbrock RPM intake with a Holley 600 double pumper. It runs great. Plenty of power, holds great oil pressure when warm, no smoke or noises and doesn't overheat. If it sets for over a week one lifter will tap for just a few seconds on start-up, but quiets right down. It has long tube headers with Thrush 2 chamber Mufflers. It's fairly loud but sounds awesome. The short block has about 50k miles since the rebuild and the heads and cam have around 5K miles on them. The car has a brand new aluminum radiator installed about 2 weeks ago. When I got the car it had the original C4 automatic. I pulled it out and installed a rebuilt 90 model T5 manual transmission. It has a new heavy duty clutch with a billet steel flywheel. The clutch works with a cable conversion. The trans has all new bearings, double molly 2nd and 3rd gears, a steel front bearing retainer and a Hurst short throw shifter. It shifts nice and works great. I pulled the 8 inch rear and built a 9 inch for the car. It has all new bearings, seals, and a completly rebuilt 28 spline Traction-Lok (posi) with 3.50 gears. With the overdrive of the T5, it will cruise at 65mph around 2000 RPM's. It has a new steel balanced drive shaft also. The front suspension is tight, it steers and drives great and the brakes work fine. The previous owner rebuilt the front end, brakes and power steering. I have installed new Mustang Unlimited springs and KYB shocks all around. The rear leaf springs and bushings are fairly new. Car has brand new 15 inch Magnum 500 wheels with BFG Radial TA tires. I purchased these this winter brand new and have not drove the car since installed. The rears are 8 inch wide, the fronts are 7. I would not be affarid to drive this car anywhere. It runs/ drives great for a classic Stang and has never gave me any problems on long trips. It is however a 41 year old car so anything could happen, but mechanicly this car needs nothing that I know of. The interior is mostly original. It is showing some wear after 41 years. The drivers seat shows wear, the carpet is tired and the door panels are fair. The headliner, rear and passenger seat are in good original condition. I have newer carpet for the car. I purchased from a guy who restored his Mach with the wrong style carpet (without the four red inserts), it was installed in his car for a short time but looks new. I have not installed yet but it will come with the car. It also has a new Grant wood-rim Mustang wheel. My next project for the car was the interior, it can be brought back into shape fairly easy. The body on this car is solid underneath, The frame rails, shock towers and torque boxes are solid. I replaced one short floor pan on the drivers front. It was welded in and sealed after the old pan was cut out, not a hack job. The rest of the floor pans are original and solid. The trunk floor is solid. There is one small spot of rust starting. From the best I can tell and talking with the previous owner, this car has been painted once in it's life in the original color of LimeGold. It has all the original panels on the car and no sign of any past wrecks or major body damage . The hood is rust-free as is the trunk lid. The bottom of the doors are solid with some rust starting on the outer corners. The bottoms of the fenders have been patched. The original quarters are still on the car, however someone has installed skins overtop of them. Looking in from the trunk the original quarters don't look too bad, some rust at the bottom, so why they installed full skins I have no idea. They actually done a good job with the body work blending the skins into the body, but I was going to do it right and remove the skins. I would save and repair the original quarters underneath whenever I painted the car. The paint is fair and showing its age. It has places bubbling at the bottom of the quarters in front of the wheels, some places around the taillights and door bottoms. It still shines good and is good enough for cruising or driver. It's not show quality by any means. Don't get me wrong, the car looks presentable, and people love it, but has it's flaws for sure. I'm just pointing out what I know is wrong so there will be no surprizes. To be really nice it needs a paint job. All the lights work, the horn blows, the wipers work, all windows roll up and down good and the doors lock. The turn signal switch will not cancel when you turn. It need replaced. The radio does not work. I have never tried to get it working. Overall this car is a nice summer driver you can take to cruise-ins or just drive the wheels off of it for fun. It gets tons of attention and looks good going down the road. It's not perfect but it is one of the most desired Mustang body styles of all time. The reserve is very reasonable. I have no desire to sell this car to overseas buyers because of all the scams. However If you are a serious overseas buyer you will need to contact me first. Any kind of check will need to clear my bank before the car leaves. No exceptions. I will not give out account information for transfers-DON"T ASK! A deposit of $500 will be required at the end of the auction. Cash is the prefered method of payment for the rest. Any other kind of payment will need to clear my bank before the car leaves...period. Sorry but I don't take chances. I have tons of pictures I can e-mail or I will be happy to take more for you. Inspections and test drives are welcome and incouraged. Please ask as many questions as you want. I will take time to help you with getting the true condition of this car if your not close enough to inspect it. I have nothing to hide and I want the buyer to be happy. Again, please no offers the buy the car before the auction ends!On May-09-10 at 19:08:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Also forgot to mention I saved most of the original engine parts that where removed and they will go with the car if wanted. They include the valve covers, air cleaner, exhast manifolds, bolts and small parts. Plus the complete 8 inch rear end and all the AC parts mentioned, compressor, brackets, pullies, condenser, hoses, bolts etc. Also the car was not cut up in any way when the 5 speed was installed. On May-11-10 at 13:53:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve is very close to being met. All guages plus dash/interior lights work, the clock does not.
