A rechromed grill for this car in perfect shape is worth a couple grand by itself.Currently registered and insured in Idaho. Title in hand. NOTE: This is NOT a complete, restored turn-key 36 Olds. If it was it would be selling for triple the price. It is also NOT junk, it is a mostly-completed project. It is still a project but needs little work to make it into a fun cruiser you can take to the diner, mostly cosmetics because I've done all the hard work (or rather paid professionals to do it). What it needs: Mechanics - Only a couple of things here, the brakes needs a banjo fitting (the diverter/equalizer on back of master cylinder) to work perfectly. Works OK as it is but if you put that fitting in you can get much better stopping power. As I've never had the car out on the road for any extended testing, I would have a mechanic do a once-over to make sure everything is working properly. Gauges read fine and I drove it 20 miles to the storage facility where it sits now with no problems, and back and forth to the upholstery and other shops several times with no issues but again, ran out of time to really test on the highway. I would also look at installing power brakes and if necessary, power steering. Exterior - A very minor amount of bodywork needs to be done here. All panels are in great shape. The only thing really needed is the bumpers re-chromed if you want to and the grill replaced, but really, this is just about ready for paint, and it will look sweet. Also needs one valence piece below trunk, and stands/bullets for original taillights. Currently taillights and signals are temporary. I have some photos of 36 olds I've found online and always wanted to do a 2-tone black/silver combo like I had on my Rolls awhile ago. Currently, the body is blue and the fenders are black. Interior - Door Panels need to be installed, inside painted. Newer upholstery already in it - Blue, and headliner was re-done by previous owner. Obviously depending on your paint scheme, this may not work for you but it is good enough that you can drive in it. You will also need to install the center console over the shifter. This will let the shifting pattern be reversed as your will find in all autos, as it is now, the shifting pattern is the reverse of normal. Does not have carpet because I installed the new floorboards and we needed access to that section. My history with the car: I bought the car for a film project I was working on at the time. I ended up not doing the project and moving onto another but always wanted to have one of these cars so I went ahead with the (costly) mechanical end of this by a professional muscle car outfit in Post Falls, ID, Kreigs Muscle Cars. Found out that the original guy who sold it to me who said it had a Chevy 350 in lied and it was only a 267, a BS motor. After awhile I found a suitable replacement, an Olds 350 that was running perfect out of a 70's Olds Cutlass Supreme. Kreig freshened the motor and checked all tolerances, clearances, valve job, etc. It purrs, and has all the power you could need. They re-did the whole car mechanically and just as they completed it, I ran out of time and space to work on this project. My job has taken me to a new location so I must sell, otherwise I've spent 12k on this car and my specialty is body-work that I do myself so believe me I would finish this this summer and have a daily driver, sunday driver or at least have a car worth 20k. I'm upset I have to sell it but as you've read, my loss is your gain. The car is currently sitting in Storage in Sandpoint, ID and has been since Decomber 09. Photos were taken about a month before we put the car into storage, before that it was in my garage or the fabsho. Not much has changed cosmetically since then. I'm sorry but I am in So Cal, and do not have access to the car to show it at the moment or take more photos. This will be a perfect ratrod with a little work, a daily driver with some cosmetics, and is a cantidate for serious restoration if thats your game. I would have taken it to Daily driver.
