Vehicle Detail

Cool Southern Barn Find! 1979 True 400 - 4 Speed Fisher T-top - WS6 Suspension Package Deluxe Interior - Deluxe Exterior Moulding Package Solar Gold - Camel Tan Hobnail - Loaded with options! I included a picture (Last Picture) to see what this car restored would look like! This is a extremely well optioned Trans Am and a excellent foundation for a restoration. It will need a full restoration and is a very deserving car. Your foundation is one of the best optioned and best color schemes found in 1979. (Gold on Camel Tan) Restoring a Trans Am is all about what you start with as the restoration price will not change dollar for dollar but the final value will be very much higher when you start with a TRUE 400 4speed WS6 T-top deluxe in and out T/A. This car is the ground pounding Caddy of the Trans Am line! The car itself needs a full resto. Engine / Drivetrain I do not know if the engine is a true matching number engine for the car. It appears intact minus the A/C compressor and a Carb. I am sure it needs rebuilt as it sat minus a carb for some time. Transmissioon looks to be complete as does the suspension and braking system. Includes the factory snowflakes (15x8) and metal center caps. This is the true WS6 meaning it does have the proper 4 wheel disc brakes (In 79 Pontiac ran out of them so this one was lucky enough to recieve one coming off the line. Interior Easiest way to state this is it will need well about everything. Plastics being factory Camel Tan are crusty, chalky, missing or in need of a trash bin. (Being honest) The dash is pretty complete with bezel, gauges etc. The car is a delay wiper car also. Exterior Overall I give it a 6.5 to a 7. There is surface rust here and there throughout the car but is from sitting so long sat since the 1990's The surface rust does not look to be eat through though and will be easy enough to cure as you will not be replacing panels and sheet metal. Grind it out and get her ready to paint. The Tail panel is good shows some rust and bends from "ding bat" jacking see pictures. The floor pans are REALLY REALLY good and in most places you still see the factory color paint and the tar from the deluxe sound deadener package it was equipped with. Doors, fenders, and rear quarters all can be saved as not rotted up. see pictures. Some pings and dings. Where she will need attention as most southern cars do is in the trunk pan. The rear window seals fail here and that water needs to go somewhere. On this car it sat in the drivers side trunk pan. There is a good hole there see picture. This is NOT in the frame rails and repair is as simple as some sheetmetal work in the tail panel INNER drop and a $79 trun pan with simply a small section trimmed from it and wlded in (does NOT need a full trunk pan just a 12 inch by 18 inch section welded in. Core support and inner fenders look good but battery tray is toast as expected. So that all being said understand if you want to build a 1979 Trans Am back to it's former glory and need a valuable TRUE car to base your restore on this is the car for you. If you are a younger guy or gal and think you can work a mirical for $1000 in labor, LOL keep looking because this car is over your head. Car is located just north of Chattanooga TN and we are on a main highway. (no backwoods driving to get here. Payment in full within 7 days and you arrange transport. You will have 30 days to pick up the car (will need trailer'd as tires hold air and not much more then that LOL. After 30 days a $60 PER MONTH storage fee will apply, and any storage fee must be paid prior to the car's release to you. My description IS INDEED intended to scare off the uneducated fly by night T/A owner and this car deserves a proper restoration by a person with the ability or the wallet to make it happen right. Feel free to call and I will take ANY and ALL pictures you need to make a educated choice if this is the right car for you. I have a 70 and a 81 I am currently working on so this one needs a new home. 423 321 2408 Prior to 8 PM.
