1973 VOLKSWAGEN "THING" This is one clean THING!!! This 1973 Volkswagen THING is an older restoration but still in very nice shape, and a ton of fun to drive! The outer body is in very nice shape and appears to have always been white. The doors all shut tight and the body is very straight. There's a few very small dings I noticed on the back. The body is also very solid with NO rust holes. The car still sports the original BLAUPUNKT radio although there doesn’t seem to be speakers in the car currently to see if it works. I have tested the rest of the electrical and all the lights, blinkers, hazards lights, windshield wipers, fan motor and horn all work. Even the clock works!!! The tires and wheels are in very nice shape. The tires have lots of tread left. The brakes work well but pull to the right if you hit them hard. Inside the dash, seats and paint show very well. There are no tears in the seats, they show little wear. The cars “drop-in” windows are also in good shape showing little wear. The retractable convertible top is also in very nice shape with little wear. The top lock-down latches over the windshield should be replaced. Currently the top must be tied down with zip ties. This is a minor issue. The engine runs strong and starts right away. The clutch is good…no slipping at all. This is a wonderful THING, and extremely fun to drive around! Respectfully, please bid responsibly by having any required financing in place before committing to purchase the vehicle as full payment is due within 7 days of auction end via cash or certified bank check (drawn on a major US bank). I can hold the vehicle for 15 days at no charge to the winning bidder after the auction (the charge is $15.00 per day after 15 days unless other arrangement made). I apologize in advance, but bidders with zero feedback will have their bids canceled, no matter what the amount, unless you contact me in advance of bidding. Bidders outside North America (anywhere other than the US, Canada, or Mexico “mainland”) are welcome to bid, but also must phone me before bidding.
