Vehicle Detail
1966 Ford Galaxie 500 XL, originally white with vinyl top, now deep metallic blue with parchment interior, factory A/C, Power brakes, and Power steering. Prior owner did the following: heater box refurbished, numerous trim items replaced, radio with cd, clock reworked, new carpet (now faded), floor mats, dash cover, new fuel sending unit, chrome fuel pump, battery, chrome alternator, all hoses and belts, edelbrock intake and water pump, holley carb, mallory distibutor and coil, rear main seal and freeze plugs, aluminum valve covers, billet air cleaner, and had the engine bay nicely detailed. Since I've owned the car I've replaced both bumpers, transmission rebuilt, aluminum radiator, Powermaster hi-torque starter, Dearborn front door panels, tires, KYB shocks, complete power front disk brake kit including master and power booster (still have original), and had the A/C worked on (major pain with these cars) and converted to R-134a although it will need recharge now. The car was bought almost 2 1/2 years ago off ebay and came out of Missouri. Prior owner paid $5500 and I paid much more than that. It has been driven maybe 300 miles since buying it. That's the reason for selling it. I have too many vehicles and this car is deteriorating just sitting here. Here is the main issues with the car. The paint needs to be redone, it was done very poorly and hasn't gotten any better over time. Think Earl Sheib special. Some of the trim has started to deteriorate due to being stored outside. The carpet has faded from the sun. The odometer reads 16759, assume 116759, but exact mileage is unknown. To my knowledge the engine has never been rebuilt although the prior owner put alot of money into it. I would atleast rebuild the shortblock. The oil pressure is good when cold but drops in the 20-30 range when hot and driving. Engine does not smoke so heads appear ok. The body is ok and doesn't appear to have any rust in the panels. As of right now the car is a 10 footer. I'm trying to be brutally honest in my description. Car runs straight down the road and the power steering is 60's smooth. This car is not a piece of junk but it's not a 2 rated show car either. I welcome inspections. There is more than 12K tied up in this car and I have the reciepts showing all the work and parts that have been replaced. The reserve is MUCH lower than what I've got in it and is even lower than what I originally paid for the car. If your looking for a decent 66 Galaxie this is a good place to start especially if you are a paint and body man. No trades and the vehicle is being sold "as is" there is no warranty expressed or implied. Door Code: 63C M B2 19G 72 1 4 On May-03-10 at 11:11:34 PDT, seller added the following information: I have lowered my reserve to the point that the next few bids will meet it. The car will sell during this auction. Please only bid if you have the financial means to purchase the car. Although this is a far from perfect car you won't find a better deal for your money. I also failed to mention I do have a clear Georgia title for the car. Thanks for bidding.
