Vehicle Detail

1982 Buick Electra Limited with the 350 (5.7) Oldsmobile diesel motor. This car is a survivor, the 55930 mileage is original. I am the third owner of the car, the first person was a woman ( I have the papers to prove this), the car sat for the last 5 years or so of her life, when she died, the title changed hands to the estate then was sold to someone in Ohio (where the car was first purchased), this owner put less than 6000 miles on it. They didn't know much about diesels so they sold it to me. I have changed all the fluids and filters, I removed the water seperator from the fuel tank (this was a chore) and put a good one in, in the motor bay. I put a new headliner in, new front shocks, a keyless entry with power trunk opener, replaced the trunk struts, new injectors, new washer pump and new belts. The cars runs great and always starts. I did not have it on winter roads, it was moved around in the driveway, but it always started. The car has a brand new set of tires. Bad things, bumper rub strips have some wear, the hood has crazing in the paint, there are a very few small spots from stones getting thrown up into the paint. There is one rust spot in the drivers door behind the bottom chrome strip, that is all for rust issues that need attention, any others are small surface spots and few. The carpet has a wear spot by the left foot of the driver, no others. The drivers door arm rest is cracked. The fake wood on the door trim inside is sun burnt, this is common and hard to find any that aren't this way. The bumper fillers have cracks and it is missing by the fuel door. The vinyl top is perfect, the seats are as well, the dash is good also. All options work, even the AC, the compressor bearings are noisy so I took that belt off, it has been converted to 134a also. It has power drivers seat, windows, locks, rear defog, AM FM radio. The trunk looks brand new, batterys are newer. I would drive this car anywhere with no worries. If I kept the car I would put a 200R4 or 700R4 in for better performance at higher highway speeds of today. This car is reliable if treated right and taken care of. On Apr-27-10 at 08:05:43 PDT, seller added the following information: The car is located in south central Wisconsin, 40 min drive south of Madison Airport, a 1 hour and 15 min drive from Milwaukee Airport, and 110 miles from Chicago O'Hare. The car gets fantastic mileage, mid 20's in the city and high 20's to low 30's highway depending how you drive. These cars were built for mileage, not performance, and they did the mileage thing very well and it still does. It was built for highway speeds of 55 mph also, not the 65 of today, that is why I stated that a tranny swap would be smart to get the overdrive, that sort of swap would give better standing starts and change the rpms you would be at at 65 mph. This car needs to have the correct oil used in it and needs the right fuel in the winter. There are things you can do to help the fuel situation in the winter so it doesn't gel. The big problem these cars had in the day they were built was water in fuel, the water seperator in the tanks never worked and allowed water into the combustion chamber creating steam, this steam would blow the head gaskets. Then when the gaskets would get repaired, they would reuse the head bolts or studs, there was a problem with the bolts or studs at the time, they weren't made for reuse and would stretch. This has not been done to this car. I have replaced the water seperator in this car with one used in the trucking industry and removed the one from the tank, this was not easy to do at all. Any other questions, I would be happy to answer. On Apr-27-10 at 08:09:47 PDT, seller added the following information: The reserve is below the NADA high price for this car and above the low, I will not release the reserve, sorry. This car is a survivor and free of major rust issues you would normally find on a car of this age, it has the one on the drivers door (shown in the photos) any others are very minorOn Apr-28-10 at 09:35:48 PDT, seller added the following information: I need to add a few more things. The car has a brand new set of tires on it, I had them put on this spring, whitewalls are pretty hard to come by these days. They are not off-brand tires either and have a 60,000 mile rating. I also replaced the vacuum pump. The cruise control works also, but surges, I am sure this is a transducer problem, this was an issue back when they were new also, it does work, thats good for one that is 28 years old. Any issues with this car are cosmetic at best, there are no major issues at all, it would not take much to make this car a show car, it is a survivor like I have stated. We all hear the stories about the little old lady owner, it is true with this car, the papers are there to prove it, the very first owner of the car was a woman and it was in her hands till the estate got it hands on it and then the Auction Co. that is why there are the 5 owners, 2 owners were the estate and then the Auction Co., two owners who put very few miles on it. Driving this car is like driving your comfy couch, it doesn't get any better than this for comfort. It doesn't get much better for mileage either, you can't find this much room in a car that gets this sort of mileage. This is a 28 year old car that has been taken care of. It lived its first 26 years of its life in Ohio and with the very very minor rust it has, shows it has been taken care of.On Apr-28-10 at 09:43:03 PDT, seller added the following information: I reserve the right to end this auction early, the car is listed locally.
