Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1969 Corvette Stingray The VIN # 194379S730855 and the Montana Title # is W358480. The story behind this car is that it was purchased in Feb 1990 in Upstate New York. The car had the front clip off as it had been damaged in an accident. After getting into the project it was apparent the frame would have to be replaced. The frame shown was purchased from Butch Calmes Corvettes (LA). The replacement frame was/is rust free as are the cross members. I got as much work I could get done before exiting the USAF. Since that time very little has happened and the car is not road ready. This car is being sold AS IS. If you would like to talk to me over the phone or ask any questions before bidding please do not hesitate to call me (Curt) at 602-510-9327. Winning bidder must make arrangements to ship/pick up the car no later than 9 May 2010Additional information about the car: The car contains a Small block 350 (not original) / Original T-400 AT /3.08 Posi. Had Body off (see pictures), replaced Radiator, brake lines, fuel lines, (1)T-arm, bushings, ball joints, U joints, Front clip, inner fenders, etc.Trim is 411, Paint is 976, Date N29 The title is a normal Montana title, it says Rebuild/Salvage in the odometer section. It was issued in 1990. I have attached a couple pictures of smaller pieces (headlights, rear bumpers etc) but please NOTE that the mufflers ARE NOT INCLUDED in this auction. Motor ran 15 years ago… Probably would start. It’s out of an Impala I believe. It’s nothing special neither are the heads. The intake/Carb are correct Corvette pieces. As are the exhaust manifolds. Transmission is the T-400 that came with the car (Serial number matches VIN) they are known for their durability. I would guess this one would need to be serviced just to make sure it’s good to go… Suspension – Car sits well on existing Springs Both Front and rear. Most of the bushings were replaced 20 years ago along with tie rods u joints etc… Car was never aligned after just ran out of time Rear end – near as I can tell it’s OK. I did replace one trailing arm and would suggest repacking all the wheel bearings (Front and rear). Brakes – Lines were all new so are pads but rotors need to be turned or replaced. Might be good to replace the master cylinder as well (just because). Everything needs to be bled… Fuel lines were all new Tank was replaced as well. I would plan to spend some time cleaning the fuel system since it sat so long with some fuel in it. Body – is pretty good. The car was in a rust environment in upstate New York when purchased (which is why the frame was replaced) Headlights/rear bumpers etc.. – I have the headlights but when the car was purchased the front clip was off due to an accident. Most of those pieces are damaged. Recommend planning to get a complete assembly. Could re-chrome the rear bumpers (they are straight) and/or look for replacements.. I have the lower rear panel as well it has a crack in the fiberglass that could be fixed.I do not have the trim rings or centers The frame is out of a 71. I've never had the frame checked to see if it was straight. But when I was putting things back together everything lined up and the car sits on it's suspension very nicely. Supposedly Butch Calm's put it on their machine and it checked good but I can't prove it. On Apr-26-10 at 16:26:06 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a little more information on the car based on some questions I reveived. 1. based on the pictures with the body lifted while the frame/suspension were replaced, is it safe to assume the body is in good shape, no rusted-out areas or mounts that need replacing? If any rust present, can you provide details on that? The body is in pretty decent shape, a few cracks that you would expect on the lower rear quarter panels. As far as rust goes there’s still some in places… All the metal parts that are used as part of the body like nut plates etc… will show it. Hard to imagine that a car that was driven in upstate New York wouldn’t have some issues. One door pillar post near/under the Vin has some rot. I’ve never took the pillar post covers off to look at the extent of it. I’ve heard that the C3’s were bad about rusting in this area. There’s some rot in the firewall area too…2. is the body mounted on the frame or just sitting on it? The body is securely mounted… I used a new mount kit when I put the body back on. As mentioned above the mounts had some rust but I think it’s a non issue now. BTW the Front clip is bonded on as well. I think it fits very well and the Hood, front bumper support, etc line up just well. BTW the hood opens and closes correctly as does the wiper doo 4. is an exhaust currently on the car beyond the exhaust manifolds? original style? There’s currently a 2.5 inch system installed (rear exit) it was a new pre bent system when I bought it and I roughly hung it just to get the car started…5. what's the condition of the interior? Will definitely need new carpet and seat cushions. The material isn’t in bad shape but the foam has had it… Parking brake cover is cracked but Dash is good as is the Instrument cluster and passenger side map pocket panel etc…6. doors & windows in operable condition? Doors were worked on when I had the Front clip installed. They open and close well. Windows also work well as does the back glass..7. any extra parts beyond what are in the photos? I have a few misc parts like the windshield washer tank and the spare tire carrier. I also have a few small pieces like screws, Inst cluster, glass/plastic, front wheel well splash seals, new chrome exhaust tips correct for 69. You’ll get it all…8. if I purchase this, is there any issue with having a car hauler pick it up and haul it to Tucson (ie - clip and body are bolted on, nothing to fall off, etc). I hauled this car from Montana to Iowa to Arizona in the exact same condition it’s in now. Nothing came off. 3 Tires are very old now though and have some dry rot cracks I expect them to fail at some point. However think you’ll get to Tucson..
