NOTE: GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS DESCRIPTION AND "ASK A QUESTION", ABOVE, FOR INFORMATION I ADDED SINCE MY ORIGINAL LISTING. RARE INCREDIBLE SURVIVOR 110000 ORIGINAL LOW MILES. VERY RARE EURO MODEL. 1984 MERCEDES 500SL convertible vin number wdb1070461a001027 TRUE 2 OWNER CAR, 1984 Mercedes 500sl convertible. Finished in its stunning original dark blue paint, with gray interior, this car is a nice looking and driving 500sl. Car truly runs and drives absolutely perfectly. All original paint and body. Convertible top is perfect. Hard top easily removed and stored. The engine is a 500sl. It is a Euro model brought to states. Auto transmission. New tires. All glass is perfect, slight depression ding in front of and above rear passenger side wheel well. Bid to own, very fair reserve for this one of a kind sl. The car runs and drives great. Its fully loaded and cosmetics including the engine compartment and trunk are in outstanding condition. TRULY A GREAT CAR.Location: Park City, Utah 4/30/10 1:20 p.m. update: I attempted additional photos in my garage today. It didn't work, so I will take photos of the trunk lid and engine when the weather clears. I did a rust inventory. All rust is very minor surface rust, appearing to be caused the paint being chipped at those isolated locations, which follow. 1.) small .5"x1" spot, front driver rocker panel, adjacent to the chrome strip; 2.) slight rust showing at the top of the driver side headlight chrome strip; 3.) small 1/2"x1" bubble about 1" above the passenger side headlight (no rust at the chrome strip there); 4.) small 1/2"x1" spot bottom right quarter panel (below the orange light lens; 5.) small rust spot where the right side lower chrome strip attaches to the wheel well. I searched carefully with a spot light and found no other rust spots. Not bad for a 27 year car with 110,000 miles. I believe this is the original paint. As to whether the car can be driven to L.A. from here, I drove it from Kansas City to here 6 years ago with no problems (about 1,100 miles). It has been in storage for the past 4-5 years. It runs great. The car is registered but the license is not current, as it has been in storage. It is not insured. You will need to check with the Utah Department of Motor Vehicles as to whether it can be driven away. 4/29/10 8:42 p.m. I had intended to but overlooked checking the box that this response go to all interested eBay members: Dear duafox, Any Leaks? Oil or Tranny? Does everything work A/C Heat etc. Thanks - marioeugene2005 Dear marioeugene2005, When I put it in storage 4-5 years ago, transmission fluid was slowly leaking. The Mercedes mechanic said it was a seal. That was the only leak. Last week when I fired it up, I added transmission fluid and took it to a shop for all fluids check and oil change. It has been sitting in the driveway since, and when I checked it a couple of days ago (it has snowed for two days) it was not leaking. Go figure. The A/C worked the last time I used it (4-5 years ago). The heater works but the thermostat apparently does not. The local Mercedes dealer suggested that instead of installing a costly new thermostat, he simply install a manual shut-off valve on the heat line under the hood, which he did. It delivers full heat when fully open, none when closed, and intermediate depending how much it is opened. - duafox
