Vehicle Detail

1968 96 V4 Deluxe. Complete mechanical restoration. New rebuilt 1.7 liter engine. Remanufactured starter, alternator, master cylinders, rebuilt calipers with new pistons, fresh brakes, new hoses, 5 new tires 155 R15, reupholstered seats, fresh paint on front fenders and engine compartment, stock cam reground and hardened by D. Elgin Cams, GT steering wheel, rebuilt transmission with working 6 roller freewheel, soccerball wheels reconditioned by Viking Wheel Service, rebuilt Solex carb, recored radiator. It goes on and on, just ask. Stock Koni shocks. Near perfect dash pad from 73 96. Fly into Charlottesville airport and drive it anywhere. I need to thin the fleet, wife starting doctorate at UVa. The paint is mostly original. The front fenders and engine compartment were done with PPG Concept urethane and are darker than the original faded lacquer. I have the rest of the paint, reducer, and hardener for the car. The driver's side was repaired back in the day and shows it. See pictures. I have a can of SAAB OE lacquer from that repair that came with the car that is VERY old with airplane logo on can. This car was stored in a airplane hanger in Parachute CO for 15 years and the pait has "propeller wash" on the doors and valences and rear fenders. Previous to that it was owned by someone in the Arizona desert. Original owner bought it at Lindquist Motors in CA and kept it in SO CAL. This car is almost completely rust free. There are two bubbles in the paint above the drivers side rear fender at the welting and some surface rust on the toeboard where the master cylinders leaked fluid and stripped the paint down to bare metal. Not even any pitting there, only mild surface rust. Chrome should be redone. The headliner is excellent except for the rear pillar areas. Door pillar trim is pitiful. Overall an excellent car that needs only cosmetic work to be as new. Please ask questions. On Apr-26-10 at 03:47:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Odometer mileage is a close estimate based on the fact that I had to change the speedometer at 158000 miles on the original one due it seizing up right after I put the new engine in. Naturally, that means there is only 2000 miles on the rebuilt engine! Engine was properly broken in with zinc additive in oil. If anyone cares I can post what the actual numbers on the replacement odometer read, although it really is moot.
