Vehicle Detail
New Page 1 The Story: Up for auction is a completely original Cadillac Series 62 4-Door hardtop. This Texas car has been delicately pampered and cared for its entire life. Not surprisingly this car only has 66k original miles with tons of history, receipts, and other paperwork documenting much of her history. Take a walk with me as we stroll down memory lane and look over this gorgeous 57 Caddi... The Exterior: When you reminisce about the 50's your imagination is flooded with bright, vibrant, colors of the decade, well this Cadillac is no disappointment. Drenching all of the body panels is the original Jade Green (code 30) lower and Arlington Green Iridescent (code 36) upper. That's right this car is dressed in the same outfit she was born with. The completely original sheet metal was given one fresh coat back in 1991 by Hudiburg Chevrolet out of Ft. Worth, TX (have receipt). The body panels are very straight and without rust damage. None of the panels have ever been repaired or replaced and she has never been in an accident of any kind. There are a few chips here and there that have been touched up with color matched paint. All of the original stainless brightwork is in great shape and shimmers like new. The chrome on the car is in good shape and still maintains a luster, but it too is original and a few pieces could stand to be replaced. The front outer bumper piece has an area bubbling from a chip that has spread, but that is the worst part of the entire car. All of the glass is in great shape for its age and only has a little yellowing near the edges of the side windows. There are no cracks, chips, or knicks and none of those pesky windshield wiper scratches. All doors close with the lightest push of a finger, and all the body lines and gaps are very precise. The Interior: Open the doors and step back to a time when ornate trim work garnished every interior like it was the prized jewel inside of a gift box. The chrome that flows around the car accents the lines and features to perfection. The original code 37 interior of this Cadillac is in outstanding condition. The dash pad was recovered in 1989 by Buckner Custom Trim Shop out of Dallas and still looks like brand new. The seats were recovered with factory material at the same time. They are free of any rips or tears, as well as any spots or stains. The carpet looks to be original and does have some stains from foot traffic. The trunk has recently been outfitted with a new carpet kit to freshen up that area, prior to that it still had the original carpet and it looked really shabby. All windows open and close with ease, including the front vent wings. The original spare as well as jack and lug wrench are still retained in the trunk in its proper mounting bracket. The car could really use some weather stripping around the windows as the material that is there is the weather strip that came from the factory and has seen better days. Mechanical: Turn the key and bring life to the 365 CI 300 HP V8 engine. This car fires right up and has a great presence. Engine has just undergone a tune-up including plugs, plug wires, distributor cap (still have the original Delco-Remy that was removed), and rotor button. The 4 barrel Rochester carburetor was just professionally rebuilt and set back to factory specifications. The carb still has its original identification tag intact. This car features power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning. All of the AC parts are there, but it does not function properly (compressor spins freely). The original automatic transmission shifts accurately as it should and transfers power efficiently to the factory wheels wrapped in 3" bias-ply white walls by Coker Tire. The factory hubcaps look great with very few, if any minor blemishes. The frame and undercarriage are completely rust and damage free. The floor and trunk pans are original and without the slightest bit of damage. The inner fender-wells still have remnants of the factory undercoating in them. This car still even has the original Delco-Remy generator and the glass jar used for windshield washer fluid. Details: Thank you for taking the time to walk around this stunning 57 Cadillac.
