You are bidding on a 2003 Saturn Vue small SUV with 167,000 miles, a 2.2 liter 4 cylinder engine, 5-speed MANUAL transmission and Saturn's "Sport Plus" package. It's been great transportation for us, and a lot of fun to drive. There is a lot to like about this car - and, frankly, a few things to consider before making a bid. Let's get the bad news out of the way first: 1 - We are the second owners of the vehicle. We bought it 3 years ago in absolutely mint condition for our son, a new driver. He proceeded to wipe out the front end in an accident; we (and he) put a combined over $7000 into restoring it. We stopped short of fixing the cosmetic damage on the bumper because - well, moms and dads, if your kid ran up that kind of damage on his car, would you sweat the fact that the bumper wasn't spotless? :) Anyhow, the remaining bumper damage is pictured here. The important thing about all this is that we've been driving the car for 2 years since that repair and there have been no front-end problems. 2 - There is some interior damage - burns and stains on the upholstery (some pictured, there are a few more) and a little bit on the carpet. 3 - The car needs rear wheel bearings. It currently rides very noisy, but the problem is easily corrected - we were quoted a price of around $550 for the job at our local Midas. (He also told us that it was perfectly safe to drive in this condition, "if the sound doesn't bother you, just crank up the radio.") Of course having a mechanic in your family would help. 4 - The gears grind slightly shifting into 3rd and 5th unless you shift VERY slowly - a by-product of our son using the Vue to teach a friend how to drive shift about a year ago. And, yes, we've been driving it this way for a year with no problems. 5 - Beyond this, there are some scrapes (pictured), but no more than you might expect from a vehicle at this age and mileage. Still with us? Good. It gets much better from here. The car is orange with black trim and looks great (other than the dings noted above). It comes equipped with power steering, power front disc brakes (rear drum brakes), A/C, 4-wheel independent suspension, dual front airbags, daytime running lamps, child seat restraints, child security door locks, theft deterrent system, rear window washer / wiper, integrated roof rails and a 70/30 split rear seat. It features Saturn's "sport package": power locks with remote keyless entry, cruise control, alloy wheels, power windows, autodimming rear view mirror with compass and temperature display, and map lights. It includes a custom professionally-installed sound system featuring a Sony AM/FM/CD/XM-ready head unit, speakers mounted in the doors and a pair of 12 inch Infinity subwoofers in the back. The system cranks and, according to our son, "sounds bangin". The 4 Firestone Destination LE tires were warrantied for 60,000 miles when we put them on, and we've driven them about 32,000. As you can see in the picture there is plenty of tread and, with normal mileage, you shouldn't have to worry about tires for a while. Last but not least, the state inspection is good until August 2011. If you are checking us out from New Jersey, other than registration and title, you won't have to feel the love at NJDMV for over a year! This vehicle is being sold in "as is" condition. We encourage you to contact us so you can come by and check the car out yourself. We live in Caldwell, about 30 miles west of Manhattan, about 15 miles west of Newark, and would be happy to meet you anywhere within a 50 mile radius of that general area for a test drive. We will not ship it, but would be happy to drive it to the winning bidder within a 200-mile radius of Essex County NJ (give or take). One more thing ... the mileage at time of sale will be slightly more that 167,000 (no more than 500 additional miles, most likely far less) because I'm driving the car to work.
