Vehicle Detail
Hello and welcome to my auction. Up for bid is a 2001 Ford Taurus SEL with the 3.0L DOHC V6 engine (commonly referred to as the SHO engine). The exterior color is gold (Harvest Gold Clearcoat Metallic) with a tan leather interior. I am the third owner. I purchased the car almost a decade ago with 119,657 miles on it and it currently has 152,274 miles on it. It was my daily driver up until two weeks ago when the fuel pump had failed. The car needs too much work to restore it to 100%, so it's much better suited to be a parts donor now. If someone can get a good discount on parts and can do the work themselves, it may be worth it to fix it up. It always ran strong. Below I will outline all the pros and cons that I'm aware of. The good:Battery replaced about 1 year ago, still cranks strong even after the cold weather we've had lately.Right front tire (Douglas) replaced about 1 year ago. The other 3 are Michelins that still have tread life but are about 5 years old.Alternator replaced about 1 year ago. Tricky location on the DOHC engine.Coolant lines replaced about 5 years ago. These typically rust and need to be changed.Master power door lock switch replaced about 4 years ago. The left front button is harder to push down though.Blower motor replaced about 4 years ago. Updated design that doen't collect as much water.Spark plugs replaced about 5 years ago.Right front mirror replaced about 4 years ago, original torn off by snowplow truckA/C and heat still good Power moonroofConsole-mounted 6-disc changerCruise controlPower pedalsMach audio system2 programmed ignition keys and 1 remoteOwner's manual The bad:Fuel pump is shot (my educated guess due to symptoms)Check engine light is on (came on when fuel pump started to act up)Brake light is on (came on shortly before the check engine light). Front pads/rotors replaced about 4 years ago. Driver's seat leather tornLeather door inserts came undoneNo jack, it broke when I changed a flat tireHeadlight lenses cloudyWindshield washer tube needs repairPCV tube and nearby line need replacementLeft front wheel may be bent from hitting a potholeSuspension work needed: Ball joints, struts, sway bar links and alignment necessaryRadio volume knob unresponsive at timesIndentation in right rear seat from baby seat frameCoolant leak (although not enough to trigger the low coolant light) The ugly:Many dents, dings and paint chips. I lived in a not-so-great area and it did not fare well while parked on the street.Rust. Especially on the left rear wheel well. Also in the left rear lower door area. The skirt there fell off and is now in the trunk.Front bumper area scuffed/damaged. Someone smacked into it in a parking lot while I was working. Plastic strip hanging.Faded steering wheel That's everything I could think of. I'll update the listing if I notice anything else. The pics were taken while it was raining, so the car appears a bit shinier than it actually is. I live in Skokie, and my car is parked in my work parking lot, which is also in Skokie about 15 minutes away. I can show the car off during the morning or weekends with a little advance notice, I work second shift. Keep in mind that you will need a tow truck or flatbed to transport the car. I'll be cleaning the interior a bit and removing any garbage from the car while the auction is active. I have receipts for some of the parts and services on the car. Please feel free to ask questions, I'll provide any information that I have. I will provide the title upon delivery, which is clear. Pick up only please, I do not wish to ship the car. The car is being sold as-is and is recommended for use as a parts donor with no warranties. Any taxes, insurance or other expenses are the responsibility of the buyer. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! On Feb-08-19 at 10:03:41 PST, seller added the following information: One more under the bad category: the power steering groans.
