This Corvette looks nice, runs great, and is an excellent driver. The new engine is much more powerful than the stock engine and really adds to the performance of this Stingray. It is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Ontario Orange (987) over Black Vinyl (400). This is the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag. We are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette Stingray at an unbeatable value. The market on C3 "chrome bumper" Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red hot right now and on the rise; one could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and information below to get a true sense of how nice and clean this Corvette really is. As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call. condition Exterior The Ontario Orange exterior is in decent driver condition. The previous owner told us that he believed most of the paint on the car to be original. The chrome looks great overall. Both doors open and shut nicely. The P02 deluxe wheel have a brilliant finish and no major curb rash. The Firestone Firehawk tires have about 90% tread left and are correctly sized 225/70R15. The soft top operates well. There are no major blemishes that have been excluded from the photos. There are some small imperfections around the car with some specific photos below and some that were too faint to show up in the photos. As one would expect from a paintjob with this many years on it the paint does some age and checking as one can see in the photos. The rivets by the headlights are visible, which is very common on this era C3. The car basically looks in person as it does in the photos, but we would recommend any perspective buyer to view the car in person if possible to get the best idea of what it looks like. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car, it is clean underneath. We have included specific photos of the areas most prone to rust. Interior The Black interior in this Stingray is in outstanding condition. The seats are in excellent shape with no split seams, rips, or excessive wear. The carpet is also in fantastic condition with no holes, rips, or major stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The gauge faces are crisp and clean and the lenses are clear. The door panels are in good shape overall and the left panel is not worn in the typical spot where the driver's elbow sits. The door pulls are solid and intact. The dash and console look awesome with no cracks or sun fading. The radio in the car sounds good and most importantly it is Corvette specific unit made just for this car so the dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. The radio is a modern unit from Custom Audio Sound with Bluetooth and auxiliary hookups for a phone. This Corvette has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes. Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well, and the excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its life. Mechanical This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. As one would expect from a modern motor, the new engine starts right away every time, runs well, and idles smooth. It drives great and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no vibrations or strange noises and the car performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shift well, does not pop out of gear, and the clutch feels good. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed. The radio works as do all the exterior lights, horn, wipers, and indicators. The blower for the heater works on all speeds. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works correctly from both their respective switches on the dash and the override switches. They go up quickly, evenly, and with no binding in the mechanism. The entire operation from both switches can be viewed in the video. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the extra power from the new engine, the 4-Speed transmission, and the top down on a beautiful day. A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system. We consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights, etc., are working and to make the driver aware of a a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the center console, or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer works. As one can image, over time this is very common. Overall Condition Overall, this 1971 Corvette is in great driver condition. The newer rebuilt engine definitely adds to the value of this car and preforms better than any other small block available from Chevrolet in 1971. This Stingray is a great value and we have it priced to sell. In my opinion and based on our experience the "Chrome Bumper" cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. There is a key for the ignition and no key for the doors. We can provide a door key for the new owner for an additional $200. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. While this is not an NCRS Top Flight or Bloomington Gold car, it is a very nice driver quality Corvette and a great car for the money. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
