Vehicle Detail

I am selling this 1974 Corvette for a friend who has owned the car since 1988. This is a very nice car. The original 270 HP 454 runs like a swiss-watch and sounds like a big-block even though as we all know it is a de-tuned smog-era power plant. It is still very responsive, very smooth and very quiet running. The 1973 454 version - exact same power train - ran 14.7 sec and 97 mph as tested by Car & Driver. I have been rebuilding BB Chevrolets since 1970. This is a fine original factory-built engine. It has 70 psi oil pressure at hot idle. Its Quadra-Jet carburetor is the factory original #7044225 unit. Only 3494 1974 Corvettes were 454s - 9 per cent of production. This car is a highly optioned, luxury-tilted collector Corvette. It has THM400, Factory AC, power windows, AM-FM radio, leather seats, GM security system and tilt wheel. The interior is very nice - to the point that the ash tray has never been used. The carpet is original and spotless. The tires are a matched set of Goodyear VR60s with no visible cracks or flaws - and still ride smoothly despite the fact that they are more than 20 years old. They have of the order of 2000 miles on them since installation - if that. The wheels are, of course, not original. The car was last driven regularly in 1996. It has been stored inside everyday since purchased in 1988. The car was professionally repainted in 2002 - all over. Both front and rear bumpers were replaced. This is a show-quality paint job - it is virtually perfect. I can find little wrong with it - two tiny nicks in the front bumper. It is the original color. It is NOT a base-coat/clear coat system - no phony shine. Has the look of lacquer. Known departures from the original configuration: wheels, bumpers, date-coded windshield, rear transverse spring, hoses, clamps. The car has a new battery and a new correct AC fuel pump. The gas tank is very clean and shows no signs of varnish etc. The frame has surface rust only. The underside of the car has not been detailed. This 1974 Corvette is a low-mileage big-block car offered at well below market value for the small-block price. The car is available for inspection in Hollister, California by appointment - 8316376949. Please do not question the veracity of the mileage. Please serious buyers only - I am a retired professional mechanical engineer with 50 years experience - I have little time for nonsense. This car is being offered as-is, where-is, in Hollister, CA. The car is now currently fully registered/plated in California, with a clear CA title, effective December 3, 2018. Come and look at it - you'll buy it. This is a fun car!
