This 450sl is a very solid car for complete restoration or to use as a daily driver. I am selling because it doesn't need to sit around, and I don't have the time to drive it. It runs and drives very well for it's age and can be used as is without any problems at all. However, it's not perfect. I will list the good and bad (at least the things that seem important to me). The good: Both tops and all other parts are original. The windshield is original. There is no evidence of previous body repair. Engine and transmission are original to the car and have no evidence of major repair. Timing and compression are normal without issue. The interior is old but in good shape. Many new parts: Tires, fuel pump/filter/cap/dampers/injectors, coil, plugs, wires, rotor, distributor cap, water pump, vacuum lines, sway bar links, and some others to be sure. The bad: The soft top is kaputt. It looks decent but has 2 tears that are taped. There are several rust issues in the hood (see picture), and more minor rust spots here and there on the body. Except for the hood, I would classify all as minor surface rust only. Original paint has thinned on the trunk, hood, and front fender edges (see pictures). AC does not blow cold. Cruise control doesn't work. All other electronics and accessories operate as the should. All that said, this is a great car that can easily be restored, or simply driven as is for many miles to come. Any questions, feel free to email. Thanks for looking!
