Vehicle Detail

PLYMOUTH TRAILDUSTER:This great running and driving '79 Plymouth Trailduster 4x4 convertible is basically the same as a Dodge Ramcharger. It's a one family truck from the desert of Southern Arizona so there's absolutely no rust. MECHANICALS:Truck needs nothing mechanically. The factory 360 CID V8 (5.9L) runs superbly being freshly rebuilt. Virtually every component from the crank up is new or restored, complete with high compression pistons, RV camshaft and aluminum intake. New hooker headers and a new Edelbrock Performer carb complete the build. Starts every time with a turn of the key on regular pump gas. No smoke, no knocks, no leaks, no issues. Comes with receipts. Here's a YouTube video of a cold start: https://youtu.be/9dfx8NAlynE Turns out the 1979 360 V8 was the maximum horsepower that engine ever achieved from the Mopar factory at 275 HP. Earlier and later years were significantly less. With the new modifications it would likely produce well over over 300 HP today. New dual Flowmaster exhaust sounds nice and throaty but not too loud. The engine bay was streamlined with new wiring and a new fuse block. Every wearable part under the hood is brand new, including the aluminum radiator. Factory Torque Flight 727 automatic transmission shifts nicely. A shift kit was installed along with a recent service. NP203 4x4 transfer case works as designed. Suspension and steering feels tight with a new Borgesen steering shaft. A 2 inch body lift was installed which allows the clearance of brand new 33 inch BFG All Terrain tires mounted and balanced on new blackout aluminum rims. INTERIOR:6 point roll cage with cross braces. All new Jegs gauges with speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure, coolant temperature, volts, and fuel gauge. A modern CD deck was installed but the speaker boxes are still empty. A new Grant GT steering wheel was installed along with a new center console between the seats for storage. The interior floor has been bedlined. The heat blows hot. There is no AC but it's a convertible after all. The seats are comfy but were not intended to be the permanent seats although they could be left alone. Seat belts and speakers have been left undone for the new owner to make their own. The factory back seat will be included but the fabric needs restored. The windows crank up and down nicely but could use new felt strips that buffer the glass in the doors as well of the removal of one of the door lock cylinders to take to a locksmith to make a door lock key. Features a new Summit racing steering column. It looks and works great but required previous owner to install a generic style ignition tumbler on the left side of the column whereas normally it'd be on the right. All the lights and electrics work (except the front turn signal lamps and speakers need installed). A metal roof rack has been added to the removable convertible top. FRAME & BODY:This truck has absolutely no rust and has never been wrecked. The left front fender and door were added from 2 different color donor trucks because the originals had sufficient wrinkles in them that it would have required bondo to smooth out. I painted primer on them but underneath there is absolutely no rust or filler. Otherwise the paint appears all original with no filler except for a small section (last picture) on the left rear where you can see a small patch starting to crack. I didn't like the look of the factory trim strips running down the sides of the fenders so I removed them and ground the metal studs down smooth. The front grill is missing the turn signals. COULD USE:Truck was undergoing a partial restoration when I acquired it from an Estate Sale just outside Tucson. The main thing it needed was the gauges installed which I paid a professional to do. All it needs now is the following: 1) New paint. 2) Front turn signal lamps & speakers.3) Seat Belts.4) A key made for the door locks. PAPERWORK:Clean and notarized Arizona title is ready to go showing 41k miles so I'm assuming 141k miles. A file folder with thousands of dollars in receipts is included. (The Estate claimed $13k but I didn't add them all up). INSURANCE:Because it's over 25 years old this SUV is not only eligible for historic plates in any State but also it's eligible for Collector Car insurance from outfits like Grundy Worldwide or Haggerty which only costs $12 per month for a $10,000 stated full coverage policy. That's right, a full coverage policy is only $12 per month and emissions are forever waived. Also note that because it is titled as a station wagon it does not require mud flaps nor does it need special plates to drive on a boulevard in a big city. INVESTMENT: Because they're rare classic convertible 4x4's, these Trail Dusters typically go up in value every year even while you drive them, providing one of the best investments in the automotive world today. CONTACT:Email through eBay or Call 52O-Nine 77-O112 for any questions prior to clicking which is highly encouraged. FEEDBACK:If you have ZERO feedback and are serious about this truck then before doing anything please be sure to call the number above so we can establish that you're not a squirrel. It won't take more than a couple minutes so please just do it or your offer will be cancelled. Unfortunately this is required due to the notorious reputation of eBay rookies for being impulsive non-paying bidders. BUYER NOTE:For those new to eBay or nervous about buying a vehicle over the internet, that's understandable, but think about this for a moment. I've been selling vintage 4x4's along with vintage parts on eBay for 18 years. Some 16 years ago I happened to sell a vintage Early Bronco to an eBay seller who runs a large scale pawn shop in Philadelphia with tens of thousands of feedbacks and he taught me this important eBay rule of thumb. Every positive feedback is worth about a dollar of trust. That means if you're buying something, say a special vintage carburetor for $300, then ideally the seller will have at least 300 positive feedbacks. This is just an ideal rule of thumb mind you. It's not etched in stone but rather a simple guideline or compass for action. So if there's somebody's selling a $7,000 vehicle with only 32 feedbacks I'd be leery. Doesn't mean it's not legit, it's just that there's not much track record. By contrast if a seller's asking $7k for a vehicle and has more than 12k positive feedbacks, well then you can rest easier for you can ask yourself why would they risk throwing away their whole business model, their decades old hard earned feedback reputation for only $7k? The answer is they wouldn't. JUST SO YOU KNOW: When you bid on eBay you've "entered into a legally binding contract for sale". That's per the TOS (Terms of Service) agreement you accepted when becoming an eBay member. The point is when you bid (or tender an offer) you need not only be truly committed but also have the funds in place and your wife's permission because, for example, at public auctions like Barrett-Jackson if you raise a paddle then reneg on a bid they ruin your credit score the same as a loan default. Point is this is not a video game. It takes lots of preparation time to present a vehicle like this on a public auction. It's serious business. Ebay auctions follow the same protocols and rules as any public auction, in other words, please don't click if you can't meet the terms below. Inspection prior to bidding is welcome as vintage vehicles are always sold AS IS with no warranty expressed or implied. PAYMENT TERMS:A non-refundable deposit of $1000 either via online PayPal payment or card over phone through Square is due within 24 hours of auction close. Full balance of Payment is due within 72 hours of auction close by either direct bank to bank wire transfer, or you can overnight envelope a Cashiers Check, or pay cash in person. PayPal for the full balance is not an option, however a credit or debit card payment through Square.com is, so long as buyer is willing to pay the 2.5% fees. SHIPPING:All shipping arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the buyer however we will always help your shipper coordinate the loading to the best of our ability. It all begins by calling the number above. Figure shipping any vehicle East of the Mississippi is about a grand. West is less. We will store the vehicle free for 21 days after sale. There is a $15 per day storage fee thereafter unless other arrangements are pre-dickered. Note that many naive rookie eBayers imagine that they'll jump on a plane to Tucson, pay in cash in person, and drive home. In most cases that's wrong. Not because you'll have mechanical issues but rather because you won't get cheap airfare to Tucson, you won't have legal plates driving home, the long highway drive without speakers will drive you nuts, and the overall trip costs (plus gas) is way more than you think.
