Vehicle Detail

This has been a daily driver for me for five, six years. Love it, it's been my dream truck for forever, had been looking for exactly this truck since I was eighteen. But I got a kid in college now, and another in high school. This isn't a barn find, though. It has the usual dings and scratches and drips from being nearly fifty years old. The only actual dent is on the right side under the tail light, where a bumper was nudged slightly into the metal. Maybe a quarter inch, if that. Not sure I got the pic of it loaded before the eBay limit of how many pics, but I can send it. Pretty sure I got pics up of the bit of rust on the passenger door and the scratch high up on the bed, right rear. Wanted to be sure to show everything I think's wrong. What's crazy about this truck to me is that it's got the original cigarette lighter, which works. The dome light works. Those floor mats look original. Check out the pic of the glove compartment: that cardboard looks new, and I think it's original. The headliner's still there. Original wheel covers. Three of the centercaps even still have blue paint. The (blue) seat wasn't cracked when I put that saddle blanket seat cover on it when I got the truck. What I can see under that tub-liner (pictured) is that the bed is solid, no rust, which I wasn't at all expecting. Was pulling a little cargo trailer the other day, had a flat, and had to break out the truck's jack, and I was the first person to get the jack and crowbar and jack handle out of their little holders. I don't think this truck was ever been worked, I mean, or worked over by a high schooler. I think it's always been a town truck, driven by someone who didn't use it up. Since I've had the truck I've had the shop (good shop here in Boulder) put in: rebuilt transmission; carburetor; power steering pump; brakes at all four corners. While traveling (Salt Lake City), I had a master cylinder put in too. Also got a horn kit and new horn cap for it. And, there's a lot of original stuff on this truck, but I'm not sure if that GT steering wheel is original. It's nice, though. Too, I haven't done any of this work myself. I wouldn't trust my wrenches on this truck. I don't know the whole story of it, either. I bought it out of Georgia, had it shipped to Colorado. It had been sitting a while, I think, as the fuel lines were all dry and rotted, had to be replaced. The guy I bought it from said it had been painted somewhere back along the way, but painted the same color as it was before. I believe him, of course, but I don't think the cab interior was repainted. It feels like it's still on the first time around. And, that 144K odometer reading is just a guess. could very well be turned over more. Were I getting to keep it, I'd: get the speedo adjusted (after new transmission it's not dialed in); put on the original sport mirrors (included with the truck—I bought them for two or three hundred, just haven't had the heart to pop those useless ones off); probably get a new grille, since that one little slat by the hood release is snapped off like they always do. There's nothing to do about the radio hole being cut square, though. I put a nice Alpine bluetooth CD player in there because I could (good speaker in the dash, too), but I'd rather it still have the holes. Oh, and the temp gauge has never moved. Truck's never gotten hot, but still, I wonder about that temp gauge. If I remember—prompt me, of course-—I've got the dash and gauges from another truck . . . maybe a 70, 71? I can lock it in the toolbox with the mirrors. Oh, and if there's a couple of weird dangling connectors on the passenger side interior, the guys at the radio install shop tell me that's for a CB. And those lights on top of the cab aren't wired so far as I know. Any questions, anything I'm forgetting, hit me up, I'll answer, take a pic, whatever. I've got a phone video of the engine running, but I can't figure how to load it in here. I've sold two trucks on eBay before. One was a Tahoe about 12 years ago, I think, and one was a 4-Runner, maybe 8 years ago. Near as I know, the buyers were happy. I would sell this one around here, as I can't drive it anywhere without every person on the road wanting to stop and talk me out of it—guy who hauled it to me said he could have sold it twenty times between Georgia and Colorado—but I let a 69 C-10 I had go local, and now I see it all the time. Still, I may put a for sale sign in the window this week, so I could be pulling this auction, however that works. Guessing it's possible. And, please, if you're halfway local, can get to Boulder, Colorado, get hold of me if you want to look at this one yourself, or send someone to. I'm available. On Aug-22-18 at 15:03:08 PDT, seller added the following information: [ edit/add: somebody was asking, so: transmission is a 700R4 from Detroit Transmission in Arvada, CO ] [ nobody was asking, but: went to town a few days ago, got the VIN/code read on this so City Lock(Boulder, CO) could cook up a couple of perfect keys for it on GM blanks. $60, but they're good. copies in old trucks always hang up, it seems ]
