Vehicle Detail
1968 Dodge Charger Restoration ProjectHas been in storage about five years since last worked on.383 with 4 BBL Holley 750. Took apart, cleaned up, tightened everything. Likely rebuilt in about 1996 based on date stamps on crank bearings and that it’s bored .060 over by my measurements. Motor started right before I put it in storage but was not run for any period of time because there is no gas tank in the car.Stock automatic transmission, filter changed but other than that not touched.Goodrich Radial T/As and Cragar chrome mags – brand new with zero miles, a $3000 value based on what I paid. Replaced interior floor, trunk floor, both rear quarter panels and tail light panel. Engine compartment and interior painted Charger red prior to beginning installation of components. Trunk lid and hood either need replacement or restoration.Includes rear and side glass and mechanisms but no front glass.Completely restored dash with odometer set to zero miles, including going through all wiring and changing analog voltage converter to digital converter. Also restored center console (provided separately).Restored front and rear suspension including all new front suspension parts and rebuilt rear leaf springs and new shocks front and rear.Used headers (I think they are Hooker brand) with brand new three inch dual exhaust installed.New brake lines installed throughout car.Restored front grille including peek-a-boo headlamps – tested and vacuum opens and closes covers.Needs finish body work, new upholstery, installation of interior parts including windows, etc., generally lots of finish assembly work to be done. Incudes five gallon “bucket of bolts” which contains many of necessary bolts, nuts, washers and specialty hardware. Will include all parts I have but undoubtedly some things will be missing. Will throw in some things I don’t need like a harbor freight engine stand, four jack stands and whatever misc. custom tools I find that I’m willing to part with (e.g., timing light). Have pink slip and expired CA non-operating registration. VIN was verified by CHP as part of registration process. Car has not been registered while stored for past five years. THIS IS A RESTORATION PROJECT. I just don’t want to do the rest at this point. I have represented the car to the best of my ability. Since I did the work myself, I do not guarantee that everything I restored is up to the standards of a professional restorer. SOLD AS-IS, NO RETURNS OR MONEY BACK.Buyer or representative must pick up at Simply Self Storage Unit on Main Street in Tewksbury MA including helping remove car from storage unit (may require helping move some power tools, etc. that are behind the car).On Aug-19-18 at 18:07:25 PDT, seller added the following information: ** UPDATE** I will show the car to serious buyers next Saturday the 25th between 1 and 2 pm EST at Simply Self Storage, Tewksbury MA on Main Street. If you want to see the car, please PM me with your name and number first. No "drop ins" because I will have to let all viewers into the facility. ThanksOn Aug-19-18 at 23:29:01 PDT, seller added the following information: **UPDATE #2**A buyer who looked the car pointed out a potential issue with the title. The car's pink slip matches the VIN on the dash. However, the body VIN is different from the dash. I believe this is because the dash was replaced by a previous owner. I believe this because this is not an air conditioning car based on the part number but the current dash has air conditioning. As I mentioned in the original description, the California Highway Patrol ran both VINs and saw no issues. However, I wanted to mention it since it appears the title cannot be guaranteed to be clean. Sorry about the confusion. On Aug-23-18 at 02:56:30 PDT, seller added the following information: **Update 3**According to another buyer, and also to an internet search, the dash VIN would not match the body markings nor necessarily the fender tag for 1968 charger. Based on that, and the fact I registered it successfully in CA, I don't think there's an issue with the title. My pink slip matches the VIN and according to what I can find on the internet, that is the "official" VIN.
