Vehicle Detail
NO TITLE. SOLD FOR RESTORATION OR FOR PARTS. Originally, this bike was purchased overseas and brought back to the USA. All the decals are in Japanese. There is no VIN number only a serial number. SOLD FOR LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. No Shipping Offered. I'll tell you all I can about this bike. Feel Free to ask questions. Up for auction is a vintage, I believe it's from 1969, Honda Dax 70 Export also known as an ST70. The bike was found at a local estate sale and there was no title available. It was used as a trail bike. The bike hasn't been used in over 30 years maybe even 40 years. According to the frame serial number, ST70-5451XX, I believe this puts the bike into late 1969. The engine serial number is ST70E-1122XX. The automatic, I believe 3 speed, 4 stroke engine still has some oil in the case and it has not leaked in my garage but the seals look wet. The oil has a slight odor of gasoline. The foot crank functions and it appears there is compression. The Honda key fits into the ignition but will not turn. The original owner told me that their grandfather had purchased the family 3 of these ST70s. I believe he bought them while in Japan. They sold 2 of the bikes back in the early 1990s so it is possible that my key went to a different bike. The engine, like the rest of the bike, has dirt and oxidation spotting but I don't see any large amounts of rust or rust damage. The engine is marked as a 72cc. The handlebars have oxidation and they are missing the top of the switch for the HIGH-LOW beam setting. This is on the left side. The turn signal switch is on the right side and appears to be complete. The handle bars appear to have a slight warp (probably from a wipe out or two), have oxidation spotting and are collapsible and the front end is removeable. The horn is held in place with Philips screws NOT rivets. The mirror was on the right side but all that remains is the bar for the mirror. The speedometer looks good and shows 1271.1 miles. The headlamp is internally loose (loose lens) and the left turn signal yellow plastic cover is off. I have it but it is damaged. The front fender has oxidation spotting but I do not see and dents. The front wheel has dirt and some oxidation. The front brake appears to be working. I do not know how well it will work. The front left side of the frame is missing the rubber pad to keep the left turn light from striking the frame. The frame looks very good. There are some nicks and marks from play but I don't see any big dents or other issues. The left front foot peg has a small split in the rubber. The muffler has oxidation spotting and old dirt. The chain is a little on the rusty side and appears to be hanging a little low. Both passenger foot pegs are present. The lower nut that holds the left rear shock to the frame is missing. The entire tail light assembly is loose and one of the two screws holding the red brake light cover has pulled through the plastic. The rear fender has lots of oxidation spotting and no dents. The rear brake appears to be working and the rear tire has oxidation and lots of dirt. Both tires are flat. The seat looks very good. There is one small rip on the top of the seat. It is very small, shaped like a z and measures 8mm. There are some white paint dots but nothing horrible. The seats metal studs are oxidized. The inside under the seat is really dirty. The rubber cover for the battery (NO BATTERY) has some damage. There is NO luggage rack. I've done my best to describe this very desirable bike. It is sold with no reserve and YOU, the buyer, will have to make arrangements for pick up. I believe the bike weighs approximately 145 pounds. The bike is UNTOUCHED. Many parts are loose. I did not clean it, I did not attempt to start it and I did not do any repairs or adjustments. SOLD AS FOUND. This is sold as a project for repair or for parts. THERE IS NO TITLE. SOLD AS IS. This is a very desirable bike. But you already know this. I believe my opening bid is more than fair. 7% Sales Tax Added To ALL Virginia Sales. The state of Virginia has decided that all businesses inside what they're calling the 'Historic Triangle' (Williamsburg, James City County & York County) will have to collect an additional 1% state sales tax (7% total).
