The good: 2003 BMW K1200GT with approx. 33k miles in very good to excellent condition. This bike has been donated to CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association). ½ of the proceeds will go to our Run for the Son ministries. Please check out our website at www.cmausa.org and click the ministry tab on the left to get a full description. I am selling this bike on behalf of the owner. The bike starts, shifts and runs just as it should. The gauges show that the bike has not been stored outside and the pearl white paint is in great condition. The oil was changed and did not have any sludge build up or metal particles on the drain plug. I topped up the coolant and took a couple short trips in the mid 80’s – the temp gauge works and the cooling fans on both sides came on when I parked it for a couple of minutes just as they should. The transmission oil level was checked and it looks clear and is at the proper level. Heated seat, heated hand grips, speed control and every light on the instrument panel work. I checked out the ABS and it works too. Had to slow down quickly to take the Colorado border picture and the pullout had a bit of loose gravel…. No problem. This bike has power assisted brakes and they work great. Brake pads and rotors are in excellent condition. The bad: I could not get the fill plug to the final drive to come out and change the oil or check its condition. Its tight and I did not want to risk damaging the plug…no problem for a good mechanic but you may need a new plug. Body work has some scratches and shows evidence that the bike may have been dropped on a gravel or rough surface. Minor stuff. Seat has some cracking. Bottom belly pan is missing two bolts and the lower fairing does not have all BMW style bolts…easy fix. Windshield has some spots that don’t buff out easily. You can’t see them in the pictures as they are minor…. Looks like spatter from someone buffing or waxing… not noticeable when riding either. The black cooling air exit grills seem loose and may be missing a simple gasket or latch to keep them more secure. The beautiful: BMW K bikes are special and unique, please do your homework. If you do not know what the term ‘flying brick’ means…. you should do some homework and have some basic knowledge about this bike before bidding. Know what you are bidding on. Please. It is a very unpleasant experience when I sell something to someone who does not know what they have just bought and are surprised or disappointed or want out of the deal. There a several really good ‘K’ bike enthusiast web sites where you can learn more about these fantastic machines.
