Vehicle Detail
Summary: It’s a 16 year old car that’s served well - has some minor flaws but it runs, it drives, AC/heat works and has good sound. Sold as-is - no warranty. No reserve! Please note that the car is no longer registered or insured - plates have been surrendered. You will need to get it registered first (I can mail you the title and bill of sale) or have it towed. Although I’m the third owner, it has been in my family since 2004 (the second owner). I’ve used it as a commuter car since I took possession in 2014. I flashed the ECU with a 93 octane Stage 1 tune, and subsequently a 93 octane Stage 1+ tune from Motoza Performance. Along with this I upgraded the fuel injectors to Bosch 550cc, and installed a 710N diverter valve. I’m including the tuning cable, software, original ecu file, stage 1 file, and stage 1+ file (will put on a flash drive). Also including stock fuel injectors if you want to downgrade back to stage 1 or original ecu. See: http://motozaperformance.com/product/stage-1-remote-tune-vw-passat-b5-5-2/ In addition I installed a drivers power leather comfort seat from a like-year C5 A6 Audi as it is a direct swap (I found the cloth seat to be uncomfortable). It’s wired into the fuse panel for power (with a fused line). Original drivers cloth seat will be included with as well in case you ever need it. If you want a second power leather drivers seat for free (I bought two thinking one didn’t work) you can have it. Also installed an aftermarket Kenwood head unit (DPX500BT), with a USB connection and microphone for wireless calling. If you want to further upgrade to a Kenwood carplay unit, the wiring harness should be the same. Stock Monsoon radio also included with the car. I’ve done all my own maintenance on the car, buying parts from ECS Tuning, AutohausAZ, Amazon, etc. I have some spare parts, gaskets and the like that I didn’t end up using - will include these as well (some specifically noted below). Other notes:Clean NY titleEngine runs smoothAC blows cold, hot air blows hotNo lights on the dash (e.g., check engine, airbag, ABS, etc.) Includes three keys (two with remote, one valet)Full-size spare Known issues (these are the ones that come to mind - may not be exhaustive):Various scratches/dings around the car (see pictures)Dash LCD screen is dim / not visible when hot (common issue with these cars) - displays outside temp, mpgs, gear selection, etc. Not critical. Some light staining on headlinerSagging cloth on door cardsLeft glove box bracket is broken (still opens / closes)Miscellaneous clips and small plastic trim pieces missing here and thereFront left headlight adjuster broken (will include replacement aftermarket Depo headlights - didn’t get around to installing before getting new car)Rear right door lock actuator is sticking - mainly in winter (will include replacement aftermarket door lock actuator)Transmission shift between 2-3 slips a little, but hasn’t changed or been an issue to date. It also sometimes gives a hard downshift if there’s a double kick-down at highway speeds. Dropped the transmission pan and flushed fluid and replaced filter, following specific leveling and temperature instructions for refill but did not have noticeable impact on those issues. Did not see any abnormal amounts of metallic dust on the pan magnet. Wasn’t worth dealing with it further. Car is being sold as-is no warranty. Other recent maintenance (miles are approximate):80k: Timing belt (next one due at 160k), water pump (swapped from VW to Prestone coolant after a flush)85k: Two new tires, new flex pipe installed90k: Replaced vacuum lines and check valves, various hoses, coolant expansion tank and seal, trunk lift struts95k: New serpentine belts 100k: Other two new tires110k: New spark plugs, injector coils, lubricated blower fan bearing120k: New cam chain tensioner, new valve cover gasket, new snub mount, flushed brake fluid with brake bleeder125k: Rebuilt alternator with new brushes and voltage regulator130k: New crankshaft position sensor, new wiper blades, new motor mounts, new batteryEvery 5k: Mobil1 Synthetic Euro 0-40 oil change.
