Vehicle Detail

GENERAL INFORMATION: First off: Salvage title! This is from being totaled out by insurance after water damage 3.5 years ago. That said, it runs perfectly and has had zero electrical issues since the incident nearly four years ago. I have owned it since a week after the water damage occurred and it has been a phenomenal car the entire time. I am only the 3rd owner. I bought it from my friend who decided to buy a newer S2K after it was totaled. He had owned the car since approximately 12k miles on the clock. Adult owned.I have all maintenance records from my ownership (approx. 3.5 years). I just spent nearly $900 worth of service performed a couple months, including a valve adjustment, ago by Coastal Autoworks (import specialists). They gave the car a clean bill of health.Everything works, ladies and gentlemen: AC works. Heat works. Fan works. Cruise control works. Keyless entry works. Windows work. Top works. Clutch is good. JVC bluetooth radio works. No rips in interior. No cracks in glass. It has been well cared for. Southern car -- no rust! You may have noticed that the odometer photo shows only 20,xxx miles. It was replaced after the water damage with an OEM unit that read 15k miles at the time. The car had approximately 44k miles on it before the water damage occurred. You do the math...this is a very low mileage S2K with approximately 50k miles traveled since 2001. This car has been baby-stepped into a track build (details on that below), and is a great starting point for somebody who intends to autocross or track an S2000. This car has been tracked a handful of times, but not abused. It was essentially a weekend toy for me for the last few years, and I started tracking the last 6 months. This car has been well cared for by Honda enthusiasts it's entire life. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DETAILED VEHICLE CONDITION: Major Issues -- None at all. Drives and behaves perfectly. Minor issues -- 1) Shift knob bushing needs replacement, as the typically sharp shift pattern is a little sloppy. Does not affect drivability one bit.2) Rear vinyl window has split in a few places from age and is being held together with gorilla tape. It doesn't leak one bit -- and we've had some crazy rain this summer. I have a used OEM top with a glass window I will include with the sale if you'd like it. Problem solved. Items of Note --1) The SRS light is on. I put AP2 seats in and the connectors are different than the AP1. I have passed inspection without issue since I took ownership.2) It has a Rockstar Garage roll bar installed for SCCA / NASA HPDE compliance. Some rear interior panels were removed to facilitate the install. They will be included with sale should you want to install them back.3) It has a Mugen exhaust (I believe) from previous owner. Sounds nice.4) It currently has Hawk HP+ brake pads on it. They are loud. There is plenty of life left on them. I have used OEM pads I will include should you prefer a quieter braking experience.5) The ignition keys do not open the physical door locks / trunk lock. When the ECU was replaced it came with new ignition keys, and the old ones were tossed out before realizing the door locks would need them. The keyless remote works just fine though, so you have to lock/unlock the car with it.6) Previous owner had the fenders rolled by a professional. There are no paint cracks or anything like that. Just wanted it to be known. Saves you a step if you're into big wheels or crazy offset, I guess.7) The paint has imperfections here and there, but is not peeling or faded. No body damage or dents. I'd say it's certainly much better than most 2001 cars on the road today._________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SALVAGE TITLE INFORMATION: I'm happy to provide the rich history of this car's salvage title -- I witnessed it happen in person -- it's an interesting story and will provide the new owner with a fun "tall tale" to tell. Here's the short version: At a rain-soaked autocross event my buddy was driving in, he lost the car in a corner, spun-out, and the car went nose-first into a loamy (soil bottom, not rocks) North Carolina Piedmont retention pond. I witnessed the event live. After the splash, the car was in the pond approximately 1 hour before a tow truck arrived. After it was towed out, it was taken home and immediately stripped and cleaned religiously by my friend. All fluids were flushed, cycled, and re-flushed. The plugs, wires, and filters were replaced. Most panels and all carpeting were removed and cleaned. A new ECU was installed, as the original succumbed to water damage, and it ran like nothing had ever happened. We attribute a great deal of luck to the car Gods, and by some miracle, the car stalled out before hitting water...i.e. no water was sucked into the engine. As stated, I've had the car since a week after it was made running again, and has given me absolutely no issues. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SALE INFORMATION: PLEASE DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU DO NOT INTEND TO PURCHASE THIS CAR. $350 non-refundable deposit due at auction close. Remaining payment due within 3 days. Title in hand. I would prefer an in-person transaction. You can fly in to Wilmington, NC (airport ILM) and drive it home worry-free. I-40 runs from Wilmington to California. Close to I-74 / I-76 and one hour from I-95 access. I can facilitate an auto transporter to pick the car up at the buyer's expense.KBB values this car at approximately $17,000 in "good" condition with a CLEAN title. Own this car for a fraction. Reason for selling: I've simply had my fun and am looking for something new. Please feel free to message me with any questions. Happy bidding! On Jul-02-18 at 15:03:07 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE: Added a couple photos of the engine bay.On Jul-02-18 at 19:48:59 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE 2: The spare top I mentioned is an AP2 soft top with glass window. It is not a hard top. Sorry for any confusion. It's in used but good condition. I've never had it installed, so I can't speak much to its condition. It was given to me as a spare from a friend who went full time hard top. Just consider it a free bonus, if you want it.On Jul-03-18 at 19:37:57 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE 3: I've had a lot of inquiries about the undercarriage, and I've added some photos. It's clean, ladies and gentlemen. Not showroom new, but clean for a 15+ year old car. I've also added a pair of Youtube videos -- one of a cold start and one driving the car. I drove to redline for 1st and 2nd gear just to give you an idea of the exhaust note / how the engine sounds. It's healthy!
