Vehicle Detail

The most important thing to know about this car is that it currently runs. I just drove it on a 380 mile round trip last weekend from OH to IN and back again. While there I put 40 miles on it. There were no problems with its operation. I drive this car to work every monday bc its trash day and the Can sits where my car usually parks. Why am I getting rid of it? I have a family and, as a matter of circumstance, we have four cars. We bought one family car which turned out not to be big enough so we bought a minivan. My wife and I both brought a car into the marriage so we ended up with four cars. We decided to get rid of our oldest and least practical car. I love this car, but I am ready to let it go. The reason is that I don't want to worry about taking care of four cars and there is no sign of this car quitting. When I bought it I said, "I'm going to take this car to 200000 and then upgrade. Well, at about 120000 she got a rebuilt tranny and this is likely still the strongest part. The engine has lost some of its compression so while it used to get about 40 mpg on the highway, it currently gets around 32. I'm on the level when I say that this car is old and dying, but it may also go for some time yet. I'm pretty handy and have taken good care of it, changing plugs, changing oil, and getting things fixed when they start to go bad. I was mobilized last year so I didn't do much to it then but also didn't drive much. Right before that I had all four brakes rebuilt. WhenI got back I had the drivers side wheel bearing replaced because of a rattle on right turns. It still rattles, but at least I know that its not the bearings. The other major problems are the rusted out flex pipe (which has been replaced twice to date), and a minor leak which drips on the exhaust causing there to be a little smoke if the car isn't driven daily. I didn't notice any smoke by the end of the weekend trip, nor did I notice any when I was still using it as my daily driver. The problem is when it sits, but this is no problem at all if when you're cruising along. So be aware. The other major issue is the exhaust smell in the car from the flex pipe when you are idling. I thought about taking it in to get welded but I'm not willing to drop a couple hundred dollars when I'm trying to offload the thing. I will list all the problems that I know down below. This list may not be comprehensive. you may be getting a deal if you bid (the tranny alone is prob worth a few hundred dollars, plus the other engine parts etc.). I recommend this as a daily driver that will get you along for a short time between better options. I do not recommend this as a family car. Certainly do not park it, lock the kids in the car with it running, while you run into Walmart for cigarettes and a lottery ticket. It will be the buyers responsibility to make sure that everything is safe for operation. I say that the car runs but that it is the buyers responsibility to ensure the safe operation of the vehicle. Below is a list of known problems: Flex pipe rusted out, other holes in the exhaust. Rattling on turns, and some other noises relating to suspension Small oil drip on exhaust, drip is small, I don't feed it oil so long as I get scheduled oil changes AC has been a little flaky since I got back into town. It worked great in previous years CD player functions sometimes Crack in the windshield Hatchback handle sticks a little, prob nothing a little WD40 wont fix. Might be a lemon (but I don't think it is) why there isn't a reserve and bidding starts at 99 cents. On Apr-17-18 at 17:15:54 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention that gasing up is slow, but the tank fills all the way just fine after a few shut offs. Also the mileage is just over 194,000 not 196,000.
