Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1972 Pontiac GTO that is a PHS documented 455 HO! 72 GTO's are one of the rarest with just over 5000 produced. This car with it's 455 HO drivetrain from the factory is 1 of 325 ever produced Making it more rare than a 71 JUDGE (357 produced)! I have owned this car for many years and it has been a special part of my collection but it is time to let it go. I will attempt to tell you as much as I can about the car and I encourage you to ask questions, come take a look, send someone to take a look or whatever you need to do in order to make sure that you know what you are buying and are happy with your purchase of a very rare car. Car was sold new at Know Olds/Pontiac in Lumberton North Carolina. Overall the body on this car appears to be in pretty good shape and you can tell that it was not a Northern car. This is a restoration project. You will need to trailer this car. It does not run or drive and the brakes do not work. Car was painted before I purchased it so I am unsure of what metal/body work has been done. However I have owned this car since the early 2000's and it looks pretty much the same way now as it did then. The original drivetrain was long gone when I purchased the car. I have sourced 2 different engines that I can put the buyer in touch with if they choose to want to build a 455 HO engine for the car. I will assist in helping get it loaded on your trailer. Possible delivery within Ohio and possible surrounding states for reasonable rates. Feel free to call me at 614-563-0877 but please no calls after 10pm EST PHS Shows that this car was originally equipped with the following: GTO Option PackageTurbo Hydromatic TransmissionTape/Stereo 8 trackSport mirrorsVariable ratio power steeringSoft Ray glassHD air cleaner (Ram Air)Unitized IgnitionTach and Gauges455 HO Saf-T-TrackAM RadioDoor edge guardsPower disc brakes-Rear floor matsAir ConditioningStripes (very rare option!)Custom trim Exterior:Hood looks good, may have had a little work done up front as is typical with the 71-2 GTO hoods.Fenders are clean and straight. Might have had some small repair done at the bottomsDoors are nice and clean and do not appear to have had any work/repair doneQuarters have been replaced along with the outer wheel housings. Both trunk returns are original but have had some repair work done. Trunk pan is original! Floor pans have been replaced, but the braces look like they are original. Front and rear window channels are both really nice and clean. Car doesn't appear to have ever been hit or had extensive rust Looks like it was pulled off the frame, however the suspension has not been rebuilt. Frame looks like it has been cleaned and painted at some point.
