A true classic survivor. Many people feel the Mark III is one of the most stylish U.S. cars built since World War II. An early example, this car's manufacture date was May 30, 1968, and it was sold by Spruill Motors, Inc., Great Bend, KS on June 21, 1968. Beautiful Iris Metallic exterior (gray with lavender highlights) with black vinyl top and black cloth/vinyl interior. Although built in 1968, it is a 1969 model with the unique turbine wheel covers. This is a highly optioned car including radio with eight-track tape player, power antenna, cruise control, automatic headlight dimmer, tilt steering wheel, etc. in addition to the usual factory power equipment. The car is believed to be in substantially original condition. Vinyl top is excellent with no issues and the interior is beautiful. (Windows are intermittent and interior door panels are beginning to show wear.) Hood insulation appears to be original as is the carpeting in the trunk. Paint shows minor door dings and wear. Rust free. Brakes have been rebuilt and exhaust system is new. Tires have 5,000 miles on them. Points and condenser have been replaced with Pertronix ignitor. I bought the car in 2012 from a man in Oregon. He told me he had bought it out of a deceased doctor's collection that the widow was liquidating. No idea of when the doctor might have bought it. Original purchaser was a banker in the Great Bend, KS vicinity. Don't know if there were owners between the banker and the doctor. Iris Metallic is a factory color. (See pages 1-1 and 1-2 In Tech Data Manual.) Color code is "S". Complete Warranty ID number is 65A S 1AA 30E 51 3 U Seat motors work except passenger seat back does not recline. Blower fan works. A/C worked last summer; don't know what it will do this summer. Clock does not work nor does the ammeter. A replacement ammeter is included with the car. Only one of the little red overhead lights works. The passenger side exhaust manifold is probably cracked. Windshield washer reservoir and pump are missing. The power steering pump on this car is driven off the crankshaft and also operates the windshield wipers which can be temperamental. These pumps use Type F Automatic Transmission fluid. They often leak and I keep a drip pan under it to protect the garage floor.
